Should I watch Golden Time?
Downloaded and ready to go. Worth the time?
I liked it. Really pretty shallow but it made me feel kinda happy, so that was nice.
I thought it was a pretty good romance where the themes came together pretty well at the end. If you like romance and aren't biased into thinking that amnesia as a plot point is inherently shit, then yeah, it's worth your time.
This. Koko is what's golden about Golden Time.
Gosh, I miss her so much already there hasn't been a heroine as colorful, radiant, looney and fashionable as her so far. I'm going to rewatch this. Just to hear her sweet Yui Horie voice.
I think what's great about it is how "realistic" its portrayal of relationships in real life compared to other anime. In most romance anime women are seen as either pure virgins ready to violated by the MC or as hungry sluts horny for MC's goods. This show throws a curveball with its girls being on the gray area, not too pure nor too flawed, just like in real life.
The only problem I have with it is the ghost subplot. Its just stupid and out of place.

agree, takemiya did a good job with that.
Ghost Banri was totally unecessary in the anime, but in the LN he wasway more important since he took the roll of the narrator, which you wouldn't need in an anime.
I found the whole Eiffel deal really cute. Koko was understandably unsure of having a sexual approach with her new boyfriend so she came up with the Paris thing which sort of become a code word between them. Then after some time and getting more confident with her feeling she come to grow frustrated at TADA BANRI not making any sexual advances on her doubting her looks when in reality he has massive hots for her but is respecting her initial wish. Koko basically has to spell it for him and hilarity ensued.
This sort of stuff rarely happens this way in highschool settings. It's usually chock full of misunderstandings and drama about purity and shit.
>Not only was almost everyone totally selfish, at the same time they were doormats
Nobody was totally selfish. Everyone had selfish goals and desires, but everyone also cared about other characters. Occasionally these feelings conflicted, and often characters handled such conflicts in less than ideal ways. Kind of like real people, especially young people with limited experience with human relationships and emotions related to them. Characters were probably the most solid and competently written part of the show. The plot went full retard at times, drama was pretty shitty towards the end, but the characters made sense. They were flawed but relatable. I kind of feel like the whole thing would have been a lot better if it would have sort of dared to rely on the characters and their interactions as a sufficient source of drama and entertainment instead of introducing Ghost Banri and issues with Banri's memories.
anyone know whatever happened to that supposed Best Boy spin off?
If you expect a second ToraDora since the sauce material is written by the same writer, you're in for a bitter disappointment.
The pacing was alright, but the Main characters sucked ass most of the time since they were unable to make properly clear choices
Kouko x Banri's still pretty cute thoughall that shit with Ghost Banrididn't make things better and it wasn't even that pretty to look at.
It says a lot when the side characters are more interesting than the MCs.
also, Linda worst girl. By far.
>Should I watch Golden Time?
As long as you realize that see-through Banri isn't a ghost. People have been calling Golden Time "paranormal" but it's not. That so-called "Ghost Banri" is the viewer's external representation of what's going on inside his head. Not a ghost. He's just the lingering remnants of memories that are buried inside.
Yes, Koko keeps her consistent shittiness throughout the show which is admirable.
Yes, that would go a little bit beyond disagreeing, but seeing how I never said that, I don't see how this is relevant. Aside from that, >>124663096 pretty clearly implied or rather outright stated that everyone who considers Toradora a mediocre show with poor romance is a shitposter.
She had a crush on one guy since childhood, only gave up on him when it was absolutely clear she had no chance, refused Banri at first rather than seeking comfort in new romance, got together with him out of sincere feelings and showed no interest in other guys after that. If anything, she was unrealistically non-slutty.
I finally watched Golden Time a couple of weeks ago after casually seeing threads about it here for some time now.
All I knew about it was that the MC loses his memories at the start and regains them at the very end and that this ruins the plot, and I saw that gay boyfriend hug image.
So I just assumed the anime was about MC building a harem, regaining memory and remembering he's gay and ditching the harem.
The actual "drama" was pretty underwhelming compared to this headfiction.
>A LITERAL, NON-FIGURATIVE SUPPORTER OF CUCKOLDING
>Against her OWN BROTHER no less
Meanwhile Cocoa followed the guy she liked, never even slept with him or kissed or anything, has all the feminine charms a man would want, and then fell in love with the man who truly cared about her, staying faithful only to him.
Rich girl taste = shit fashion sense?
>no one has mentioned the best girls so far
They are the simply best, proof me wrong.
>So I just assumed the anime was about MC building a harem, regaining memory and remembering he's gay and ditching the harem.
>The actual "drama" was pretty underwhelming compared to this headfiction.
Good. Harems are shit anyway.
In real life chad "mitsuo"thundercock would have been banging all the girls in the show and banri on the side
No, fuck no, considering it was written by the guy that wrote Toradora and those guys were in highschool, the characters in this are almost entirely irredeemable. Then there's the gimmick of Banri being Patrick Swayze in a superposition of dead and alive.
>no Koko to call you "MAI BOIFURENDO"
>no Tada Banri to call you "MAI BOIFURENDO"
My niggah. The best thing about Koko was how faithful and devoted to him she was, which never lead him to doubt her feelings. In Linda's case, their relationship ebbed and flowed in that ambiguous way that normal anime romance couples do which is what ultimately caused their estrangement. Basically, Linda couldn't just woman up and tell him how she felt like Koko did, thus she lost.
If anything, I wish Banri could have done more to assure Koko that he loved her, but he seemed more a man of action than words.
Yeah. I liked how they showed in the flashbacks how Banri and Linda had the typical anime highschool love story only to go back to the present and show how much can two immature kids fuck that up.
Indeed. Heck, even Linda isn't that bad of a character. She had feelings for Banri, but constantly chooses to keep quiet and allow him to be happy.
Another thing I liked, they didn't have koko and linda become friends to drag out some forced love triangle. I mean, they were "friends" but in the realistic sense, rather than "you are the only girl friend I have and hang out with".
So much yes, anon. I love it.
Yeah, even if there was sort of a triangle both girls took it out more on the circumstances of on each other. The closest antagonism they had was during that work at a night party and even then Linda apologized and Banri cleared the mess quite quickly. Koko's resolve to be a better girlfriend and keep her friendship with Linda was awesome.
I always found funny how even after she stopped pursuing Mitsuo she kept a rivalry with Okamera despite the later having absolutely nothing to do with her love life.
Oh man, Koko and Okamera was so beautiful. It began as a rivalry, albeit one sided, but by the end they were really close friends who relied on one another. The most telling part was after the car crash. The way Koko gently pushes her napkin to stop Oka from bleeding was so sweet and humble. Oka is right when she says Koko is just shy.
I finished it earlier this week. It had some great moments.
One thing I don't get though.
How could anyone think for a second, Linda, who is quite possible the MOST one dimensional childhood best friend stereotype in any show ever, had a chance at winning.
Because no matter how shit a character is or how completely out there a girls chances of winning are, there are autists on /a/ that will take the least popular opinion and defend it to death in order to get attention.
I couldn't stand watching it as a grade 8 drop out hiki.
plus Koko had eyes for another man so she is a dirty bipolar narcissistic fucking whore.
