Italy have a single issue: Italians. On both sides of the thing.
Shit taste in reading and buying, most publishers doing whatever the fuck they want with releases and such, exaggerately contrived distribution of final products, and so on.

As far as sheer number of releases goes Italy is on par with France but it's largely shonen and action series. Over and over. And not even the good ones - hell, according to some large fansite polls Bleach and Toriko are the best thing ever while nobody even knows who Fujita is, and we're getting Karakuri Circus published right now. Ah, and you can count SoL/comedy series on one hand.
Then in the ocean of mediocrity you get some nearly worldwide exclusives (second volume of Spirit Circle in a couple of weeks or so). Which sell like shit, of course.
It's kind of like Italians always did stuff, if you think about it.

France is just much more open minded about picks - especially from /a/ "good manga series" perspective, it's the best country.

Moonlight Act. Not as good as Karakuri Circus, but still really enjoyable.
I try to read every Fujita works, so I have every Moonlight Act released in France, nine first volumes of Karakuri Circus (gonna buy the following) and I'm currently reading Ushio To Tora.
I also found the Karakuri Circus' 17th volume for low price. It really bugged me when I saw it despite this volume is expensive nowadays, so I ordered it and when I received it, it was all wet and damaged.
