Never understood that stark contrast fetish of many scanners. Unless you know what you're doing and adjust each page manually, you'll more than likely kill the softer tones. If you don't try to make the scanned page completely while, it not only lets you keep the softer tones, it also lends to a nicer overall look. If you want to eliminate the other side of the page shining through, that's what black cardboard is for. If you put it behind the scanned page during the scanning process, it'll prevent the other side shining through in most cases, so you won't need to up the contrast like crazy afterwards.

The anime adaption would have been a lot more enjoyable if they had kept up the production values at least. I could live with most of the changes to the story, but at least try to make it look good then. There was clearly some time spent on preproduction, but when it came to actually draw/animate the stuff, a lot of times shortcuts became overly apparent. Left even more of a bitter taste, when I saw how much effort A-1 put into PianoAidsDrama during the same season.

As for the changes, sometimes it seemed they made changes just for the sake of it. Rather than save time, they were sometimes doing things differently, when doing it like in the manga wouldn't have taken up any more time.

Take, for instance, Kekkai Sensen from this season. Also skips (cool) scenes and chapters from the manga and changes stuff a round a bit since there's only so much they can show in their allotted time, but it's still pure joy to watch, at least so far. In Kekkai Sensen, I get the feeling I get to see how the strength of the animated medium can be used to tell the story, whereas with NnT, the anime made me focus on the weaknesses of manga to anime transitions.

At least, when they did put in some effort, the animu looked great, like Gil blasting Hendricksen away.
