The ending came out of fucking nowhere and they managed to introduce a billion new plot-points in the last 4 or so episodes.
I remember it for the hilarious tale it is. Bad in places, but forgivable. I often go back to it. It has more heart than so many other shows ever will. For that, I feel it should get a mention on occasion.
I particularly liked the very beginning and how they handled the first few episodes as well (despite the notable dup in animation budget) and the general theme of the anime.
I have the Minami and Yuuhi versions but the Ushio one has proven elusive.
