Gonna dump Satoshi Kon's Opus.
Doesn't seem to be on Mangaupdates, so I'l *very* briefly resume the story:
>A mangaka gets sucked into his own work. Surreal shit happens, à la Satoshi Kon.
It's pretty great, so get on board.
For the description. Forgot to mention that.
Gonna skip the blank pages.
No idea. I only found Opus because it was licensed. In fact I only read it because I found the licensed version in a library.
Note the late replies and general lack of commentary; I'm just reading along 'cause I'm kinda multitasking right now.
Nothing. I just feel like dumping manga.
Don't forget, if you like it, buy it. He also has a short story collection coming out next month from Vertical.
Opus was good/decent for a book with no ending, Seraphim is rather slow(so far I haven't finished it yet.)
It's pretty damn ironic how Opus "ended" though. I could buy Seraphim but I have pretty much no idea how to scan properly.
I actually liked the way Opus "ended" with that extra unpublished chapter. It was sudden but felt very fitting for a Kon work.
Seraphim started out okay, but slowly gets better and more compelling until the story ends having only just begun. Shame it was never continued.
Tropic of the Sea was boring and forgettable. I wonder if they'll ever bring his World Apartment Horror manga out.
It's nice to own a physical copy.
I'm not a huge Kon fan so I haven't read his other works, unfortunately. I'll definitely keep an eye out for Seraphim though, thanks.
Thanks. I'll have to do a Satoshi Kon day or something.
Sasuga Satoshi Kon. I wonder if Tetsuwan Atom aired in Resonance's world?
>1. To act lazily or indolently; to recline; to lean; to throw one's self down; to lie at ease.
>2. To hang extended from the mouth, like the tongue of an animal heated from exertion.
>3. To let the tongue hang from the mouth in this way.
I used to like this word, before the internet made it impossible to use without people misinterpreting it.
Now things get weird.
Why would I want that?
Oh. Sure, I was just trying to put some music that's easy to read to.
I run an internet radio. It's totally unrelated to the dump, but
google edenofthewestif you're curious.
You know it. Played something off Paprika earlier, too.
Did God kill off Satoshi Kon to entertain a greater power?
I'm ashamed to admit that I've only seen Paprika so far. As I said, I'll have myself a Satoshi Kon day eventually.
I actually think some stand-alone episodes of Paranoia Agent were pretty damn great, but the series overall isn't that amazing. In the end I'd probably say Millennium Actress, even though I didn't like it first, but on the second viewtrough it really grew on me. It has the single most perfect ending.
I'd consider Paprika one of his worst works, so you're in for a ride.
Alright. I think I'll just watch in release order, though.
Could someone remind me what the image limit is? 250?
Millennium Actress is my favorite.
Anyone ever read the original Paprika novel?
It's actually kind of bad. Good setting and all that, but shallow characters, doesn't explore the themes half as well as Kon's adaptation.
He actually explains this in detail later if I recall.
We'll need another thread after this chapter.
