Sad to say it but I have found that there are very few anime even worth archiving to PC, much less purchasing a hard copy.

I watch a regular amount of shows and knock a few off of my backlog only to delete most of them and never watch or think about them ever again. Very few leave an impression in my mind that they are worthy of purchase: Cowboy Bebop, Bake Neko, Book of Bantorra, Ghost in the Shell, etc.

Importing is fine (it's actually the best way to collect manga ideally) but if you don't know moon - which is the overwhelming majority of people here and pretty much everywhere except /jp/ - you might aswell buy toilet paper as you're reading on scans anyway. Although the "support directy the author" point still stands, but to each their own.

Localized has its perks too (namely: actually reading it) but is undeniably less supportive of the industry and keen to more problems as the serie is passing under another "round" of work, from editing and translation to physical edition and eventual publishing issues like delays or interruptions. Also vastly depends where you live, Italy and France are a completely different thing from US for example.

I have the same caste in sky as OP. The subs are shit. Shiiiiit. Some US distributors aren't so bad but sometimesthe English subs done by nips in the Japanese release is better that the subs in the US release.

To add, you just have to do your research before you buy it. It's all hit or miss with localization. I've seen publishers butcher original jap style and I've seen other publishers do things beautifully. For example the former DelRey even kept the original sound effects intact with only a small, discrete english trans on the side.

Always do research before buying because the publisher, editor, and translator can all create varying results.
