How many hours did you spend drawing today?
>>
>>124486411
I spent all morning eyeing my tablet with longing and regret while I shitposted on 4chan and procrastinated on stuff.
>>
>>124485982
I know what you mean, man.
Only thing you should always keep in mind is "keep pushing". You're rusty now, you're rusty first 30minutes/hour/two, but eventually you'll feel that drawing satisfies you and that what you've drawn actually looks pretty decent. So, keep pushing.
>>124485466
It doesn't work like that. First, you must fall in love with eros and female body like never before. Then you work something out from there. Passion will drive you.
Oh, the stuff he says on his streams. "Ah, I'm so tired of that action, I want to draw an ero scene! I was born to draw ero scenes!"
>>

I spent half a year(if not more) eyeing my tablet with longing etc.
The more time I spend not drawing, the harder it is to come back. It's a nightmare.

That's it.

He's talking out of his ass because it's obvious this particular mangaka doesn't trace/rely on reference material for his characters too much.

But... a TON of other mangaka do. 3D models or photos, but a lot of them use reference. It's still faster than constructing everything.

And for backgrounds, using reference photos is the default.

OP clearly says his "drawing powers". Even if you steal his joke-telling and storytelling powers along with that, you could never write and pen the Tsugumomo he'd have written.
>>
>>124489638
>drawing skills are stored in the heart
>but for some reason nothing else isn't
That seems like an awfully arbitrary, weird and convenient rule.
It's more likely that if your skills are stored somewhere in your body to be passed on upon consumption, it's an all or nothing deal.
>>
>Tsugumomo artist

That guy is a fucking monster.
I fap with every single chapter.
>>
>>124489740

You're missing the point. Even if you steal all his skills, you can't write the Tsugumomo he would have, because you're not him. You don't have his knowledge or experiences or imagination, just raw skills.

>>124485982

>>
>>124489898

Imagination can be argued to be a skill. Knowledge is collected information relying on memories. You don't have his memories, or experiences, or personality. You can only create a fanfiction tsugumomo, even if it's a good one.
>>
>>124490010
>Knowledge is collected information relying on memories.
Drawing skill is motoric memory and technique aka knowledge.
>>
>>124490078

You're stretching OP's post far beyond the breaking point. The only way you could write Tsugumomo is if you literally became him and forgot who you were. Even if you somehow absorbed his memories and experiences, your own memories and experiences would still color and change the work.

Life drawing and illustration are pretty distinct disciplines, you won't get good at drawing what you imagine by just drawing what you see... though it helps. There's a lot more needed.

Well, unless you want to compose everything in your pictures out of reference photos, that's a way too.
>>
>>124491125
You're confusing what we're talking about. It's the result, not the person. Just because the simile speaks of a person doesn't mean that it's referring to the person in the original scenario because we weren't even discussing him. We were only talking about his work.

Then don't come up with terrible analogies. If you murdered Akira Toriyama and replaced Dragon Ball's second half with "dragonball multiverse", you would have deprived the world of dragonball's second half and instead given it your own fanfiction. Assuming you could even trick the world that your work is toriyama's, that would be a logistical nightmare.

See? You're just bullshitting your way through this.
The existence of bad fanfiction does not mean that a person of the same skill as the original author (which, as I explained, is not limited to just his drawing skill) could not produce stuff of the same quality as the original material.

It is. The mother is a poor choice because it's a producer and not a product, you're literally turning the situation on it's head. And even then it doesn't work.
>that a person of the same skill as the original author could not produce stuff of the same quality as the original material.
This is irrelevant. Even if you had the skill to produce work of the same quality as Toriyama's (like that's such a high bar), by murdering him and stealing his abilities, you'd be depriving the world of the manga he WOULD HAVE WRITTEN, because even if you take everything about him, you would still not be him, and as a result would make something different.

So even if you could perfectly emulate Tsugumomo's art and writing style, you could never write the Tsugumomo the artist is going to. Just a good quality fanfiction..

Since you are directly experiencing your mother, but only directly experiencing the mangaka's manga, nope, you're missing the point.
The point being that just because a person (or a story telling style) changes with time does not make them a fake. It just means they evolved, as is natural for all living things.

>you'd be depriving the world of the manga he WOULD HAVE WRITTEN,
By the same logic you can accuse every single editor he ever had and his parents and everybody close to him (and basically everybody) for depriving the world of manga he "WOULD HAVE WRITTEN". So?
You got *a* story by him. You can't get them all.

>>124492531
Wrong, it's:
-good man -mangaA + manga B + personal skill.

Not to mention you'd likely just draw porn for yourself instead of trying to finish Tsugumomo, and you'd be dissatisfied because fapping to your own porn is weird and uncomfortable (just like, I imagine, reading your own manga).
>>
>>124492664
>-mangaA + manga B
It's quantum manga. So long as they don't exist both his and your manga have the potential to be either A or B and the superposition only collapses once you actually draw it. So no, A and B does not come into the equation.

There's nothing quantum about it. You're replacing a man with another that has his skills. Yours would never be his, because you're a fundamentally different person and this would affect your creation to be fundamentally different from his.

You'd deprive the world of his manga, you'd deprive yourself of his manga, and you'd murder a good man in exchange for skills that, while impressive, aren't impossible to achieve.
Not a good deal.

I'm not very good at drawing, I'm better than some, but not really.
Something you should really consider is learning traditional art and figure drawing before you start doing anything like manga or cartooning.
When I read a how-to manga book by an actual Japanese guy who can actually fucking draw manga, it's from a perspective that expects you to know that stuff already.

I'd say practicing really hard on drawing manga will be somewhat fruitless if you don't get the main components down (on which there are so many sources of information).

Again, I'm not very good. Most people's drawings here are miles better than what I can do. However I'll say one more thing. As with anything you want to be good at, you can't just practice, you have to want to practice.
You have to enjoy the act of getting better at something.
The artists I respect the most, and tend to enjoy the most are always improving and trying new things.

In all seriousness, if you draw for that long and you're not improving very fast, you may be doing something wrong. Many artists fall into a rut always drawing the same thing in the same style and just stay stuck, for decades.
Just drawing is not enough. You have to actively try to improve by objectively looking at your shit and identifying what's bad.

They would crack open and kill her when she gives birth. So the arousal of impregnation is bigger for her.

Drawing in real life is just tracing using your eyeballs son. You might start out looking worse than your photo traces but you will eventually surpass it and be able to make up perspectives and poses just because of the sheer volume of muscle and visual memory.

Unless it is a physical activity. No.
>>
>>124508864

Unless you're like 80 you have no excuse.

Hell, an 80-year old lady got good and successful as an artist at her age.

Getting to draw gud doesn't actually take that much time if you really work at it. There was one guy I heard he basically worked his arms into the hospital, but went from Zero to pretty awesome in a year.
>>
>>124508771
Looser requirements for pressure/tracking sensitivity. Though some companies have apparently succeeded at making expensive tablets good for drawing.
>>
>>124508914
The potential isn't what I mean, I'm sure I could be able to learn eventually. I mean that most of the good artists have been drawing for 10-15 years to get where they are and I'[ll be in my 40s by the time I'm as good as them. If I even make it that long.

Is it really that hard for westerners to pick up anime/manga-style illustration? I mean sure, you could try drawing those huge eyes, the wacky hair, exaggerated blushes and what not, but there's always this tinge of gaijin that always seems to remain. It's distinct. I've seen tumblr levels of "anime" and professional western mangaka, and they're very different from one another, but still quite far from what it's supposed to be.

What influences your illustrations? What references do you use for your style? Is it really just a westerner thing, or is there a much simpler answer to it? A much more complex one perhaps? It just boggles the mind, looking from an outsider's point of view.

This fails to point out that in failure, there's this chance of going back to realization. There's failing, and there's being a failure. The difference is one chooses to get back up after falling.

It's mostly exposure to specific techniques and drawing styles. Westerners tend to practice using western methods and teaching aids, which ends up producing distinct characteristics in their style. That said, I've seen plenty of talented western artists adopt very good manga styles since that's what they wanted and they put in the work to get good at that style.

Relatively great western artists I could think of that offers how to draw videos and the like (save for the lot in DeviantArt) such as Mark Crilley, happens to be some of the most gateway artists on the internet who offers decent tutorials.

Aside from him, the style of other professional artists whose books I've read such as Christopher Hart are stuck in the 90's wherein anime/manga was a hit in the west. It seems as if anime/manga is no longer a worthwhile investment in modern day, that western professionals would no longer bother with it. Though, for good reason, seeing how anime and manga affect Japan.

The only real effects anime has on Japan is a stimulation of the economy.
Manga is a completely different thing. Putting it into the same category as anime speaks of ignorance.

Social-phobic world-shunners don't come into existence because anime exists. They come about because they can't find a place in the world. But they will flock to entertainment like anime.

Also:
Getfaggotry is against the rules. If you're surprised by your post's deletion, that's the reasion.

Git gud. I've been drawing with a shitty bamboo forever and I can do "decent". bad hardware doesn't really hinder your capability unless you're literally using KB+M.

That being said I want to learn to paint well like this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeBElzRBDI8

But I feel I lack such a big sense of perspective and lighting that if I were to spend 8 hours on a piece I wouldn't get something as detailed as that, and I really don't know where to start or what to practice on for learning to do great detail like that. I practice and practice but If I were to draw something scaley I would need reference on how light works of scales/metal/plastic/etc.
>>
>>124511236
>tfw have been using a wacom bamboo fun small for 6 years
>>
>>124492619

One of the best artist I've seen. To be able to draw out an image like that without reference/sketch is pretty insane. Everyone has some starting point in general that they work out their piece, but he can just go and make a finished piece with strokes without a base.

Literally the exact one I have. been using it for years.

I think failing is just included in every single step. The failure node, on the other hand, means becoming a failure as opposed to just failing in general.
