So after watching the anime I couldn't help my self and started reading the manga and caught up. So lets have a Shokugeki no Souma discussion.

Someone finally uploaded the firsts 2 novels in Nyaa. Translations when?
I want to learn how to cook, but I don't have anyone to cook for or against. Wish I had Erina in my life.
There's a man inside a gorilla costume spying with binoculars on top of the tree outside.
I want to read it, but reading online is such a drag. I wish it was like anime where you can just get a whole season of it.
CHOO FUCKING CHOO
BEST GIRL COMIN' THROO
Move aside plebes, true best girl coming through
>superior Spanish cusine
Boring is a bad thing. Megumi could be a lot better with even a little bit of attitude. Imagine her talking shit in a really passive and shy way.
>I-I just thought it was really strange that you would try to challenge someone with that sort of weak flavor.
So I think it's established that Megumi isn't a shitter chef anymore, but where do they go from there with her? Will she actually become a big player? I think they've played the 'SHE HAS GAINED CONFIDENCE!!' card enough now.
She will become Souma's wife.
Freckles girl in polar star when?
I don't mean this freckles girl specifically. Just a girl with freckles. They make me rock hard.
This brings up a pretty good point. What're the chances of this series sticking it out till Soma graduates? That could take 10 years or so, is this show popular enough to do that?
It's fascinating how bad the anime adaptation is. As in there are a fixed number of creative decisions that had to be made to get from manga to anime and in every episode almost all of them are wrong in either tone or mood: the comedy's too melodramatic, the melodrama's too comedic, the action's too dull, the talking heads are too dynamic. If it were coincidence you'd think just by playing the odds they'd at least do it right some of the time. It's like they're deliberately trying to make it shit
I like how yukihira won his tournament event against alice, normally shounen manga just come out with some ass pull move as to how the protoganist beats a strong opponent but it was actually well thought out.
Might make it that far
We are at 12 volumes right now and only about 3/4 through the first year. So will probably get another 3 or 4 volumes then the same for second and third year add another 2 volumes for events during winter and summer breaks then you get about 49-50 volumes maybe more
I like how she's doing Megumi's accent ~dabe. The acting feels a bit amateur, but I'd prefer Megumi with such simpleton girl voice than something overly sweet and high-pitched like Hanazawa.
What if this gets dubbed, she'd sound like a stereotypical southern hick? Never liked stuff like that, like Osaka's dub voice, it feels too out of place in a Japanese setting.
What is she doing with her knife /a/, is this cookery knife skill ninjutsu? The fucking thing just starts vibrating and phasing as if slicing through air itself.
OP is top notch, can't stop listening.
it was a step down but it was the best handled tournament arc i've seen in a long ass time. the jojo homage was delicious too
I'll dump the extra pages from volume 12 since I have nothing to do. Translations are welcome.
Both imagining the anime
'Huh? Where's Hayama-kun? Did he go back home alone? Geez, why did he leave without me?'
box: Meanwhile, Hayama
'This one, please.'
Yuuki: Can broken japanese really just 'strip away?' Isn't that just weird?
Alice: To marry into the Nakiri house, even that much isn't that weird at all.
Volume 12 special extra! Practical recipe number 1
Ingredients (for two people):
pacific saury fillet or white fleshed fish fillet (sea bram, Japanese sea bass, Pacific cod, etc) - 2 slices
(headless)shelled shrimps - 4
manilla clams - 8
cherry tomatoes - 6
mushrooms - 4
lemon, salt, black pepper - to taste
butter - 40g
grated garlic - one teaspoon
dried parsley, dried thyme - 1/4 teaspoon each
parchment paper - 2 sheets of 40cmx40cm
1.Mix the garlic, parsley and thyme with the butter at room temperature, wrap them up and return them to freezer to gain some consistency
2.Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and the mushrooms in thin slices. Cut along the back of the shrimps and remove their digestive tracts.
3.Salt the fish and leave them aside for 10 minutes, drying the water with paper towels
4.In the center of the parchment paper place the fish, mushrooms, tomatoes and shrimp and put salt and pepper on all of them as you like. Spread the herb butter you made on them and place them on a 200C oven for about 20 minutes. Garnish with lemon and serve.
PS: Outside of saury season, you can use other white-flesh fish!
Sorry I don't know any cooking terminology guys, I'm googling shit and making it up as I go along. Should be at least understandable, right?
Are you sure it's not heat resistant film? He used it in chapter 98.
It's basically just paper that can go into the oven, right? Same thing.
How many full color chapters SnS has? It has a lot for some reason.
I don't mind Curry being top tier, I'm just miffed Soma lost the tourney after all that Broshiki build up. Shinomiya training arc fixed the manga though so it's alright. Now that Soma's trained in French cuisine he should move into other genres as well.
I am the bone of my fork
Meat is my body and vegetables my blood
I have created over a thousand dishes
Unknown to overcook, Nor known to serve raw
Have overcome failures to create many flavours
Yet, those hands will never hold many things
So as I pray, unlimited tine works.
Because she ignored the theme. Souma almost made a similar mistake against gigganigga before he caught himself.
Also yeah, when they reach 2nd year, realistically the author should pick one known first year (not a background character) to get cut from the school. If everyone makes it up, it feels a little silly given how ruthless the school is.
The 2nd to 3rd year transition is where it'll really be brutal.
You mean she almost got kicked out. And no, that's not what I mean. From the beginning, they say only 76 of the first years will become 2nd years. Then there's another brutal cut off for third, and the old man says the number of graduates could be counted on one hand.
The cast is big enough that while they could all make it to 2nd year if the author feel lenient, but not really past that.
Most of the student cast. Isshiki is the only 2nd year at Polar Star.
The story hasn't introduced many upperclassmen at this point. Isshiki, Eizan, Konishi and the sumo guy are the only 2nd years they've introduced I think. And no third years yet.
Obviously the rest of the elite 10 are 2nd and 3rd years, since Erina is the only first year in the elite 10 ever, but they haven't been shown.
Debatable. The school doesn't just cut everyone who isn't part of the 76 it's just so challenging that on average only that many make it. Souma's generation is one filled with once in a lifetime geniuses, every member of polar star (except mystery bros) would probably have been able to take the autumn elections if not for the super genius to their regular genius. Remember even the Don idiot made it past first year and was good enough to be in charge of a club.
I can understand why people hated it at first, but it was the best course for the manga as a whole. Stop portraying the MC as literal perfection, show that he has flaws and room for growth.
I see some anons still have good taste.
I've only seen the first two episodes of the anime so far and I'm really loving it. I have zero confidence for anything running in wsj though. does the mango turn into endless training and tournament arcs like every other shonenshit series? is souma going to fuck the bitch out of erina and cook for her like his dad said?
There was a pretty long tournament arc, but it ended a few of months ago.
Erina isn't very relevant in the series past this point. The author obviously intends to fit her in somehow, but for now her role's been tangential at most.
I just want to see slice of life chapters with Erina trying to kick Souma out of the elite ten. Also Alice will probably make it to the 10 her food is almost on par with the asshole trio
Well, with the third years gone, we'll have to see how many of the elite 10 are 2nd years to see how they'll advance. Isshiki being in top 3 in the next year is easy to believe. Erina will probably be in top 5. Souma, Akira, Kurobika, Alice will probably be in the bottom 5 for second year with someone else.
>with someone else
Megumi will be in the Elite Ten, calling it now.
Read through the preliminary round of the Fall Election earlier, and I've been through the tournament several times before.
Still don't understand why people hate it. Sure, it was a little bit long, but it was well done for a tournament arc.
I fell in love with her in the latest episode of the anime. I probably will also read the manga just for Megumi.
it's a cooking manga but cooking is boring as fuck
only exists for ecchi shits
shota no sushi or chuuka ichiban better manga when it comes to interesting cooking
shit even iron wok jan is more interesting
I was going to drop this cuz of generic bitch main girl but instead I got a waifu I want to bully, tease and protect
