I've given up on the remake I just want a new Melty Blood. Supposedly French Bread wants to make a new Melty Blood but Nasu is stopping them so it can conform to the character designs of the remake which he has no intention of releasing. Fucking hell.

I'd say it's quite easily the weakest out of Type-Moon VNs. The action is amazing thanks to the prodigious production values, but there's not much of it and the plot feels really small scale, like an introductory chapter. The SoL is also very hit-or-miss, as usual by Nasu. Example of bad: There's a long-ass scene where Soujuurou discusses real life bird facts with Kojika. Example of good: Soujuurou's first meeting with Alice's bird familiar, who is insanely jealous Alice keeps looking at Soujuurou and tries to make Soujuurou believe she's out to assassinate him.

All-in-all it's decent but not enough, especially after how long people were hyped for it. I'd also like to mention that Soujuurou is way more entertaining in comedy than Shiki and Shirou.

It's a top-tier fighting game from my little experience. The lack of any updates in years have killed any interest or improvement in it though, but i'm pretty sure a well made new release would be very popular.
The real problem is that i'm not sure how much longer MB will manage to stay out of the way of Fate (and that's part of what makes it good).
Adding Fate stuff into it would probably make it sell more, but likely ruin it. For the sheer amount of character they'd end up adding and not be able to handle, first of all.

Fate as a franchise in an ingenious mechanism for skimping on work because the hardest part of writing a book - the actual plot, is already done and can be re-used an inifinite number of times: "Historical figures beat each other up for the holy grail" and the character subplots are fanfictions and re imaginings of historical stories and myths which already exist.

A fighting game lives on how balanced it is when comes down to long-lasting popularity or presence in tournaments.
The more characters in it, the harder it is.
And you know how many of them Fate franchise would pump in the game, especially when Fate fans are so easy to milk.
In the end the most likely result would be having a best seller carried by fanservice (as playing with your favourite characters) but a poor game when the hype dies down.
