I've only read Monster and 20th/21st Century Boys, but I feel like Urasawa really needs an overarching plan if he's to write something that actually feels coherent whilst on a rather grandiose scale. While I found both manga to be really good, I'm still a bit hesitant to read his other works.

Pluto's much shorter and tighter of a story. Happy's also a completely different kind of story. Then there's NASA, his 1 volume collection of oneshots.

It's my favorite Urasawa manga. Not my all time favorite but still great.

I think all the fuckery with who friend was ended up being needlessly complicated.

While it had sections that were absolutely sublime, the overall quality dropped towards the end and things got needlessly messy. Many things were left unexplained, and unlike Monster, where this vagueness actually adds to the creepiness of the story, it ended up quite frustrating in this case.

Too ambitious and that's basically why it's not the greatest. Pluto and Monster beat it easy.
