Isn't it convenient how we know the name of every character except Kyon? Just like how we know the name of every character in the bible except god?
Kyon doesn't need a name because he is god.
For a while I thought the pattern was ordinary humans never get their full names revealed - Kyon, Tsuruya, Taniguchi, etc. Anyone with a full name had some sort of supernatural identity.
But there are some really minor characters (the girls in the band from the festival ep) with full names and nothing unusual about them so I dunno.
His real name is just Kyon. He's butthurth about having a lame name so tries to convince people Kyon is his nickname, and real name is much cooler. Unfortunately, the only people he's been able to convince are the readers.
Hmmm, how royal and imposing sounding.
You might be onto something.
Tanigawa was heavily inspired by Dan Simmons' Hyperion saga, and Kyon is probably a reference to the first book where the MC is just called "the Consul" and is never given a real name.
In the beginning of the series when they had their original seating arrangement it was alternating boy-girl-boy-girl in alphabetical. Kyon was in front of Suzumiya who was in front of Taniguchi. Deducing this, I bet his last name is the same as the author's because why not, it fits. Tanigawa.
Sasaki said he had a royal and imposing name, and 卿 (you, lord, secretary, state minister - http://jisho.org/search/%E5%8D%BF%20%23kanji) can be read "kyou" so I bet his first name is Kyou-something. Kyousuke? Who knows.
Sasaki also revealed that his name is spelled with uncommon kanji so maybe it's comprised of other kanji that can be read as "kyo-" something. My moon isn't high enough to really know for sure.
So for now, my headcanon says his name is Tanigawa Kyousuke.
He and Nodoka would have gotten along well with their SOA attitudes.

who is based on who ?
I am starting to think that Nodotits may eventually feel the same as Kyon. Nodotits's been exposed to endless parade of occult, but Saki's occult is something that she can't simply ignore.
ジョン・スミス ジョン → キョン
JOHN → KYON
Kyon Name is
東雲恭一 Kyoichi Shinonome or

>>implying that doesn't mean "i am"
and his name is "gonzales" haruhi-chan said it
You aren't a proper Jew if you're watching anime.
So after 3 episodes of Yuki-chan i'm getting into Haruhi for first time, it's okay to watch 2009 in original order?
Yeah,m watch it chronologically if you want it to make sense and be enjoyable, watch it in broadcast order if you want to lessen your experience just so you can claim to have followed the lol so randumb director's gimmick of an "artistic choice" and fit in with the /a/ hivemind.
I watched it in chronological order but you can do it however you like.
You may want to skip chapters 13-18 since the only changes there are are the clothes each character wear and some bugs.
Yeah, chronological order makes more sense nowadays now that there is more material to fill in the gaps. The broadcast wasn't a bad idea to make for an interesting climax, but now you can consider that to be the movie.
Also 1st, any middle, and last episodes of Endless Eight is the general consensus.
>Not watching the whole Endless 8, fifteen thousand times
What a faggot
