Is this perfection?

i had fucking Inferno Cop vibes.
This is 12mins Inferno Cop with some real animation thrown in the middle and lots of Ninja killing.
I was up on my toes the entire 10 minutes of the episode. I wish Inferno Cop was like this with the upgraded conversations. This is quite the surprise hit, I thought I would see generic Trigger actions but I was not disappointed in the least by this spectacle. I cracked on the obvious lack of speech during two scenes. Its clear that the Ninja inside of Kenji compells him to kill himself that would kinda form a dark Ninja Slayer and begin an epic battle between each other where Kenji shows how he had outgrown Ninja-san. I can't stop, guys. This anime. It did it.
You know, you can't really troll when the lie is so blatant
So what did I learn here.
Potential will eventually become trash while trash becomes better than trash. What is once trash will become memorable trash and people will love it and you cannot stop it. Just embrace it for what it is. You know that this anime will stay true to itself for the next 11 episodes and I will still like it.
>>Finally not a generic MC
He looks like the usual 'muh revenge' mc, what's special about him?
Also I remember Frank Castle having a similar conversation with his darkness or whatever it was in one comic, I wonder if it was a reference.
Will this forced IRC spamming of "AOTS" and it claiming that the show is actually good ever stop?
Elevens hate it, even weeaboos on MAL hate it. Everyone hates it. Though I suppose that's why the shitposters are spamming it
I'm confused is this supposed to be like those adult swim shows that people tell me are funny if you are smoking pot? Where does one get pot in Japan to make this show funny? Isn't pot a serious offense in Japan?
its 12 minutes long but still relies heavily on reusing an animation over and over or just keeping it on a single frame while running dialog behind it
maybe should've just wrote a manga instead
The OP was made from scenes from the show, the rest of the show has normal animation. Akira Amemiya just wanted his ebin trolling episode, he isn't directing the next 3 episodes.
Because that's all casuals care about, makes them pretty much hypocrites for bitching that nips and other anime fans only care about waifus and voice actors.but hey, Normalfag logic.
Because fun things don't need substance to be fun.
I'm all for deep and meaningful anime that make me thing with a lot of substance and subject matter, but I would never be able to exclusively watch anime along those lines. I can't understand why people have such a problem with other people enjoying fun, stylistic shows with a lot of flair.
Does anyone else have the actual issue of their brain outputting Sudoku when you unironically meant Seppuku.
Also this is a great chinese cartoon. If you expected something else from trigger you are almost as retarded as I am.
>people actually think it will revert into normal animation after this
>people still don't get trigger
>trigger is still above them
>for they are dogs who cannot look up
>Triggerfags yearned for more Inferno Cop
>it's upgraded Inferno Cop x classic animation
>KLKfags hate it
You can't please anyone, I knew exactly what I was going to get and I don't regret it. People here thinking we get another KLK can leave. Also great OST.
whats it like being a vegetable or something with less sentience than a deer.
Nah, I'm the biggest KLK fan on the board. (I think it's poetry, and I have nothing but deep respect for Nakashima), and I'm loving Ninja Slayer. It and Teekyu are my AOTS candidates.
>He doesn't enjoy something completely retarded once in a while
No wonder you guys never have any
The rest of the show isn't like this, the OP is made from recycled scenes from the TV show. You see shots of Yamato and friends walking or Ninja Slayer talking to boobs and grandpa or Nancy just speaking around.
I genuinely think this format is perfect for trigger
Most of the issues people had with KLK was a result of them going "what do we do now?" halfway through making it because they ran out of ideas and time
making the bad animation bits funny bad instead of just bad and only having to come up with 15 minutes of stuff instead of 30 plays to triggers strengths (coming up with one off gags/characters and drawing overly elaborate close ups) and downplays their weaknesses (their inability to actually write a story or a character arc)
This all probably comes off as damage control or whatever, but that's how I see things.
I like trash like 'Nude nuns with big guns', but there is a difference between that and this, this is just shit, bad done, bad animated, bad everything, it's not even retarded enough to be fun. It's Inferno Cop done wrong.
Confirmed for knowing absolutely nothing about the source material. It's an extremely self-aware callback to stuff like Ninja Scroll. That's why they went for the over-saturated colors and jagged-lines artstyle. Keep trying to fit in though, it's fun calling you faggots out on your bullshit.
Because the OP is made from recycled footage for the TV show and it has mundane stuff like Ninja Slayer standing around watching the fireworks or Yamato walking with her friends animated normally. And they also have a pretty normal anime staff for future episodes. Hiroshi Ikehata is directing next week's episode, for example.
As a huge fan of the show Afterworld, I implore you to watch this!
On one hand, comparing this to actual garbage like chargeman ken is insane
on the other, this seems like an anime made exclusively for a specific set of western anime fan and literally nobody else (besides maybe trigger themselves) so there's probably a pretty big cultural dissonance
can you name an anime with substance? even the 2deep4u stuff relies more on crazy animation and sudden poorly explained twists than actual substance
you want substance, read a fucking book
>yfw inferno cop 2 has a "normal" first episode and then breaks into flawless amazing animation never seen in years past for the rest of it.
>all so trigger can fuck with everybody once again
Not reading this shitty thread, but the episode was alright. Some moments were failures where the comedic timing was a miss, others worked decently. It's a lengthy series so I hope they don't rely on the same tricks all the way through or I will eventually drop it.
Did KLK really do that fucking bad that they're resorting to...this kind of animation? Do they have anything serious that they want to animate? Any plans? Or is it just going to go downhill from here.
>inb4 FUCK YOU ITS AMAZING le epic meme
No. It is not.
>not knowing any anime with above an 8 on MAL sucks ass with an exception of like 4-5 of them.
>taking mal seriously in any way.
>taking mal posters seriously
>meanwhile even gaia online has better quality anime discussion
>MAL is just a place for reddit to continue circle jerking.
The novels were penned under the names Bradley Bond and Philip "[email protected]" Morzez, who were purported American authors who allowed the series to be translated by Honda Yu and Sugi Leika, who are in reality the actual authors. It's sort of a inside-joke about the super-violent OVAs from the late 80's to early 90's, that kind of lampoons off of all the traditional action show ideas and plot devices. It's all completely intentional, as is the oversaturated colors and use of stock sounds, that were extremely common for low-budget OVAs from years back before proper sound-mixing and grayscaling were extremely popular.
No I mean I don't really see a future with this studio. Yes, KLK was absolute shit, but at least it had some animation. Now they're doing that modern retelling of Dante's Inferno movie shit.
I'm just saying that I'd love to see this anime actually animated. Now it's just sullied. Finally an MC that is manly and isn't a 16 year old teeny bopper but he's held back by shit animation....
Since when does self-awaring makes a show automatically good?
Is it good because you can show how superior you are by knowing the shit it's based on, so the show fulfills your sense of achievement? Understandable I guess.
when people think of trigger only a small minority actually think about inferno cop, shoulda stuck with what people know because this wont be anywhere near as popular as gurren lagann or KLK, probably even panty and stocking.
Yes. Trigger is one of the few studios that gives zerp shit about pandering to moeshit loving otakus just to sell bd and figurines. Meanwhile everybody else is burning out and killing their workers for that garbage. 2ch dumpstering this just goes to show how fucked the culture really is.
>nobody really understands that trigger truly is saving anime
>These fucking subs
10k per volume for any kind of budget is fucking amazing what are you talking about? Besides, the show wasn't high-budget at all considering they only used a very small amount of well-known seiyuus.
my problem with this idea is that all those low budget OVA's still looked pretty damn good, because that was back when japan actually had money so even shlock could get a solid budget
Dude, the economy has nothing to do with production values. Shows made today have much, much higher budgets than stuff from years back, excluding certain series with absolutely insane animation like 90's Sunrise.
Are the seiyuus new? I was pretty impressed by them, Music was good.
The cop part man, It looked so fucking retarded that it actually was fucking hilarious.
It's nice to see a studio who doesn't try to pander to the biggest possible audience, but it would be nice if the show had a rugular animation. A show with a badass slaying ninja with a plot that doesn't take itself seriously and an okay animation is all I want. We need more show like afro samurai (the OVA, not the awfull sequel).
You don't have any idea what you're talking about don't you? It was one of the most succesful anime of the year. If I'm not mistaken, even on the top 10 of original anime of the decade. Great success for Trigger.
>IRC pick a different studio/show to troll
>everything remains exactly the same
I'm sure the amount of crossboarders Xenoverse brought heavily outweighs anything KlK ever did.
So, I'm guessing you have never watched Inferno Cop
I don't know where you live, but here in America this kind of humor is commonplace and pandering to the biggest possible audience.
The only westerners who could think this was good are the kind of people western cartoons are geared towards, or they're trapped in their own little bubble and think they are Japanese. But if you think this is novel, it's clear you aren't the normal adult swim watcher.
Is it bold for the Japanese target audience? Yes. Are you the Japanese target audience? No.
Will they deliver another perfect character like Nui?
Sorry. That was just a piece of shit.
Entertaining in a trolling fashion? Fine. It is funny in that way. As an actual animation effort? Pure garbage and a waste of time.
Even fucking Denpa Kyoushi looks like Studio Ghibli animation to this.
>Are you the Japanese target audience? No
Considering the reaction to Inferno Cop and the interaction with the twitter PR guy when it was airing I would actually say that the west is targeted to an extent, even if it isn't the primary target.
These are the VA's for the show:
Ninja Slay/Kenji Fujikido : Toshiyuki Morikawa
Dark Ninja/Fujio Katakura : Shō Hayami
Nancy Lee: Chiwa Saitō
Yamoto Koki: Sora Amamiya
Dragon Yukano: Risa Taneda
Laomoto Khan: Masane Tsukayama
Clone Yakuza: Tesshō Genda
>Considering the reaction to Inferno Cop and the interaction with the twitter PR guy when it was airing I would actually say that the west is targeted to an extent, even if it isn't the primary target.
To an extent, but a westerner shouldn't think this is bold in a western context. More like another program they can put in the Adult Swim line-up to make some sort of attempt to bridge the adult humor cartoons with the anime, like Perfect Hair Forever.
>there is people here on /a/ right now that haven watch inferno cop and is complaining
>there is people expecting it to be KLK
These subs crack me up.
>mfw in three threads the consensus on NS has changed
Get fucked, niggers.
This really won't be as popular as KlK because for some reason tumblr-fags ate KlK up with all the girl-power thing it had going.
NS doesn't have that so the large tumblr audience won't hop onto it.
The downside is an immense drop in popularity and sales (cushioned by the fact that the production costs were seemingly not too great) but the upside is that there won't be any idiotic shipping, tumblr-redraws with multi-ethnic skin recolors or a generally big influx of idiots.
Ninja slayer is the anime with the biggest amount of seeder on Nyaa. Most popular anime of the season with a tsundere fanbase confirmed. Trigger did it again.
>this won't be as popular for KLK
This is a 15 minute ONA. I
Apparently the actual anime is going to air next year.
No fucking shit this won't be as popular as klk.
It's like saying Ufo would be happy to get 10k for UBW. It would be a total fucking success. It's like to say G-Reco didn't flop with 8k. 8k is waaay over manabi. Right? Tomino is happy as fuck. But mah gunpla. Oh fuck off.
Because people became informed that it's an ONA, was never intended to be aired on TV, and Inferno Cop director is back to troll us. They got over their initial shock and amusement.
Jesus Christ that's cheap, around $75. An average episode of anime costs over $100,000. I don't even think they need many viewers for it to make a profit.
Also, I gotta say not only is the "inferno cop 2" aspect of it fun but the relatively well animated parts are cool too. Reminds me of G Gundam.
I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
Liking westaboo anime just because it is Japanese instead of American makes you 10 times the weeaboo. There is literally nothing about this I can't get from Adult Swim shit except Japanese dubs (it's Japanese so it must be good) and ninja references instead of pop references (it's double Japanese so it must be DOUBLE GOOD)
Because I called a guy who was using Japan's taste as some kind of fact a weaboo? I don't understand how you can think someone who puts japan above everything else in anything (In this case, opinions) is something other than a weaboo
>An average episode of anime costs over $100,000.
You're an idiot. KLK was an original anime for a new studio, not a known series in the Japanese market like Fate. It didn't have a budget, advertizing, or much support. Again, it's a fucking original; not based on a novel, manga, VN, etc. It had nothing going for it.
>not understanding everything trigger does is paid for by an oil baron who gives zero shits about profit
>he just wants to save anime
>trigger just wants to have fun
Shit taste japs and shit taste japanophile weebs don't get it.
>no moe no harem no love
Because they like it and prefer to have fun in their job than becoming empty moneyseekers.
Also, it's cheap as fuck, so even if it doesn't sell, there's not much they stand to lose
Outside of ballet, figure skating, fencing, and fight choreography is there any kind of dancing that doesn't ultimately look like a bunch of mud people from the Congo spazzing out around a fire?
lol what, this is all there is and you better enjoy it retards.
>you just don't get it
Why does this post make me feel that this anime is gonna have a bunch of shitposting fedoras in these threads?
I dropped it after the first YEARGH scene was repeated multiple times in a row in the span of 5 seconds. I might give it another chance, but does the rest of the short have the same "comedic style"? It got old pretty fast, and it's like they were trying to crash that joke with no survivors.
Lagann was an original anime. Similar project in terms of ambition. It sold twice as much.
>but mah Trigger was Gainax at that time
A lot of shit flopped from Gainax with their ad budget.
Why do you fucking think the last things from Trigger were a low budget adaptation and two cut outs?
Sounds like her...
>people are unironically saying that Ninja Slayer has better animation than Kill la Kill
please kill me for committing the sin of looking at youtube comments
disliking trigger is akin to disliking touhou and that is as heretical as it gets.
That's a fallacious argument. It's not if my time is important that matters, it's whether I think the content I want to fill that time with is comparatively better than other content.
Whenever Ninja Slayer's episode was released.
Had a big grin and laughing for a whole 15 minutes.
These colors do not actually resemble 80s and 90s OVAs at all; the comedy of the series is clearly intended to come from the fictional autors' knowledge (or lack thereof) of ninjas and Japan (lines like "oh my Buddha!" and the parts about "reciting death haikus" make this obvious). "Parodying 80s and 90s OVAs" is not the point of the script at all; having fun with stereotypes/misunderstandings about Japan is.
They're both equally good. Ninja Slayer has a style shift to a more typical (crazy that I'm using typical to describe kanada style) animation, but that is irrelevant in terms of overall quality.
They both accomplish their goal with flying colors in a way that is appealing.
It's not fallacious. You could argue that your time is actually worth that much, but you are taking time to shitpost on this thread about how you only watched 5 minutes of the show before dropping it, so clearly your time is not that valuable.
It's shit, but it's shit for very specific reasons.
1 - All the trailers had the good animation in, even if still was Trigger type of animation and therefore fooled people's expectation on the show.
2 - It goes midway serious and not serious show. If it was 100% Inferno Cop animation it would have been a fine comedy and if it was just the well animated scenes, it would be an average poor budget action anime, but with both it conflicts itself constantly in what it wants to be.
3 - It' too long, without the ok animted scenes and just make them shorter "Inferno cop" scenes while picking up the pace, the show would have been an ok comedy, but it drags a lot.
It's not the worst thing ever, but it looks like a poor mans Inferno Cop
>This is another Trigger Niggers KLK circlejerk
It's going to be a long season.
Its not serious, just look at the comments in the streaming sites or things like Facebook.
>All the trailers had the good animation in,
No they didn't, but they weren't full IC-tier either.
>midway serious and not serious
When the fuck is it serious? Are you kidding me?
>It' too long
That I agree with. Don't think I'd be able to watch 26 15min episodes of it, but we'll see.
The question is, will the tongue-in-cheek intentionally cheap animation get old before the show finishes, and if so, are they aware enough to not just rely on so-bad-its-good humor because it's cheap?
They've already done the joke with Inferno Cop, can they avoid the pitfall of boring everyone with repeating the same joke for 26 episodes? They have shown with this first episode that they are going to implement sakuga at certain points unlike Inferno Cop.
Therefore they could believably at some point subvert it and make even the most boring and simple of scenes have over the top elaborate animation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru5EKWP25FY
I will give them the benefit of the doubt but really it could go either way before the show is over, depending on how much they are willing to experiment and break expectations, not just in the animation but as far as humor and story structure as well.
