Infertility hasn't even been remotely playable for years. Once they use up their 1 barrier they are pretty much dead. Other decks can summon equally powerful monster with less minus, more consistency, and still have more backrow

Neos is a pointless card. It's been a bad one for years. If you want to fusion a light hero you use alius since he doesn't need tributes. All of the neos support is out-dated. They are slow, inconistant, and not powerful.

And the object of the mini game we are playing is to stop dark magic attack from being cast which just nukes the enemies field. A better monster counter would be fire hand.

Ice barriers are such a sad arch-type. They have been around for years and they have never been good. I must have fought them dozens of times and have never lost a game vs them. I don't even know what their win condition is supposed to be.

Their entire game plan is based around locking down the board, which is pretty much impossible in yugioh except if you use vanities. It's too easy to just summon an exiticon knight or satellaknights trevor and beat their entire lockdown with a single play.

They're just another archetype with cool but useless monsters that will never see the light of day. Ice Barriers actually used to be somewhat playable when they had their Synchros, but we all know what happened to them. Some guy at my locals did some fucked up Rank 7 spam with a modified Ice Barrier deck a while back though.

Yugioh is a game with strong power creep. After a monster card has been out for a year there's a 90% chance that it's going to be worthless. If you are lucky it will get a bit of support and extend it's life another year or so. They will release a card that does the same thing but better, stronger, more reliable, faster, and with more synergy.

Spell and trap cards have less of a power creep if they are a very generic card. Like how mirror force is still playable but 99% of arch-type specific support is dead.

Yugioh is probably the worst card game to get attached to certain strategies, cards, or combos because they will eventually be unusable even in the most casual play.

You get the most fun out of it by just accepting that the various cards have a short self life. You play with them and than throw them away after a year. The good news is it means the game changes very fast and there's lots of new things to experience. Fighting a pendulum deck is unlike any other experience ever in yugioh.

Not that guy, but Yugioh was pretty random games and a relatively cruel pharaoh that possessed some kid playing random games. Pretty sure Kaiba hired a serial killer to kill the gang in an amusement park at some point.
The card-game arc got really big and they just strode on that.

Yugioh HAD to have a power creep to survive. There was no other way.

Why do pokemon and magic not have power creeps. (it is widely known the first set of magic was the strongest ever made and the second strongest set was Urza's Saga which is like 15 years old). Because for competitive play cards rotate out in magic and pokemon. Even if the new set is weak it's what everyone play in yugioh.

In yugioh to keep selling cards (to keep the game alive) since cards don't rotate out there must be a power creep. If all people did was play dark magician and Celtic guard from the first edition yugioh wouldn't have lasted more than a year.

Like it or not people who play yugioh competitively are what keep the game alive. No competitive play=no sales=no new anime or cards.

Frankly though modern yugioh with it's crazy cards is a million times more fun than old yugioh which had no tactics other than optimizing card advantage.

Yugioh's power creep is actually relatively tame compared to say Vanguard, the power of the cards do get stronger but not so much that none of the older decks can't compete. The main way of selling new cards is by crippling the previous meta decks through the banlist, usually just enough that although they can't dominate they can still top once in a while to keep the player from feeling he wasted his money. If you release some cards from the ban list they can definitely compete with the newest stuff. Dragon Rulers is probably still the strongest meta deck this game has ever seen.
