Which anime are underrated in your opinion?
There are many good comedies which are rarely mentioned.
Isn't it about time /a/ admitted this was the best thing to ever come out of [email protected]?
I really liked Kannagi and I hate the reason why it never got a second season.
A more recent example might be Argevollen. It wasn't great, but I thought the SOL angle for a mecha-military flick was a pretty good idea.
I would imagine anime fans elsewhere haven't watched it so they haven't even rated it, let alone rated it highly.
O-or the true meaning of underrated is really not rated often instead of not rated highly.
This. It never got a fair chance 'cause of the weird art style and it's kind of a shame.
I strongly disagree. The main point of Figure 17 is the character developement not the alien hunting, which mainly serves as a catalyst for said character developement. Her daily life and how it interacts with her mission is what this anime is really about.
Then you would have about 50% alien hunting time, which is not what this show is supposed to be. Also every SoL part required different things from Tsubasa, e.g. in the ball game she had to trust her own abilities, and in the play she had to overcome her shyness in front of others. It's all different aspects of her character that influence her behaviour as Figure 17 and vice versa.
I watched half of the show and I still don't get why /a/ creamed over it so much. It was really boring for the most part, the girls were bland as shit, the only good parts involved the fat director and his PTSD for working on Jiggly Jiggly Heaven and that episode about the facial expression of that 27 year old loli.
It was so dull and I'm really into the animation process.
Greatest love story ever told
next to Brigadoon.
Speaking of Shirobako there's a mini-documentary on how they made Tetsuwan Atom (the first TV anime). Doesn't go too far in depth but still interesting.
And an even earlier (and even less in depth) documentary (I think by Ogino Shigeji?) made in 1937: http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=671686
Not a masterpiece, but it was really good for what it was. Totally underrated compared to everything it had to compete with.
I'm looking at you K-ON...
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in Neko senseis ballet school, and I’ve been involved in numerous stage performances, and I have over 300 confirmed fans. I am trained in pa de deux warfare and I’m the top dancer in the entire Goldcrown town ballet ensemble. You are nothing to me but just another spectator. I will wipe your hatred for ballet the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of ballet dancers across Goldcrown Town and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your opinion on ballet. You’re a fucking ballet fan, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can invoke the love for ballet in you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my basic techniques. Not only am I extensively trained in solo performances, but I have access to the entire ballet ensemble of the Goldcrown town ballet school and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable hatred off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit grace and beauty all over you and you will drown in it. You’re a fucking ballet fan, kiddo.
NOBODY on /a/ watched it except me. It's really adventurous and good.
The intellect of the average utenafag, ladies and gentleman.
Daughter Of 20 Faces
Great show, shame not too many people have seen it.
>shonen where it doesn't go on for 100's of episode, ends in 26
>no faggot MC, loves his woman
>no useless heroine
I was surprised as fuck.
Also this fucking godtier OP.
Comedies are never good.
Only popular on /a/. No one else knows about it.
It was shit. It is shit. It's been shit. Nothing but contrite mega-weeaboo bait with flat characters and a barely existent plot. It's seasonal garbage that will be forgotten by next season's end. Barely anyone gives a shit about Bakuman, and Shirobako isn't a tenth of a time as great as that shitshow, because at least that had decent characters and good art with a progressive plot.
Shounan Junai Gumi, definitely. It's the prequel to Great Teacher Onizuka, and it does not get nearly enough attention that it deserves. It's funny, feelsy, and all around great.
Say that to my face not online and see what happens.
only problem I had was that most of the alien species were all humanoid animals
I liked Kate less the more it went on. And then I especially didn't like her in Dead Girls.
Rose is great though. And she probably got the best ending as well, seeing as how
forgetting is better than having a mortal family.
The Hellsing anime.. -not- the OVA. I though it was better anyway; far too much macho posing in the OVA for me. Only problem with the anime is that it ends abruptly. I wish they had made more episodes.
