Well, x2600 is only really a "standard" with FAKKU anyway. I'm not aware of any other legit digital manga vendor that would offer things in similar quality - usually things range from mediocre to terrible. Special mention goes out to Project-H for their low quality x1200 JPGs that look like scanlations from 10 years ago (not to mention their online reader's GIF color pages that look even worse).

I really do wish other vendors would take a look at what FAKKU is offering and step their game the fuck up as a result. Digital distribution on the whole really deserves better.

If I wanted to rig comparisons like that I wouldn't be posting my encoding settings and everything for them - they exist specifically so that people can replicate and comment on the methodology. The settings I used were based on recommendations scoured from doom9 forums on x265 usage. After the anonymous comment saying to try default settings instead, I did do a new encode with them and indeed got improved results, though there's definitely still room for improvement even then.

You can use your reader's two-page mode to show the spreads perfectly, though. The files are organized so that the spread layout for the content pages matches that of the physical book when reading in two-page mode and progressing forward two pages at a time.

Even if you take a language course, the only way you will actually progress, is if you supplement the formal learning process with immersion.
I don't get how this many people can't think for themselves and realize that.
If you learn it on your own, you learn the text-book side of a language through books etc, on your PC and supplement it with reading, translating, playing games, listening to music in the language, watching shows with and without subs, and more.
If you take classes, it only replaces single parts out of that entire list.
It barely affects speed, except for the fact that you're learning text-book language skills/grammar, a few hours a day/week.
It's nowhere near efficient.
Yes taking classes isn't all that bad, but it's not a means to, especially for language based progression.

I've commissioned a lot of stuff from a lot of different translators. Personally I'd say Brolen is the best, he's the cheapest and fastest translator around. Nearly 200 page CGset, give him me a couple of days. 240 page tank, 2-3 days. Though you need to find an editor afterwards but Brolen has sometimes provided another guy to edit as well and those have also been cheap and fast.

maipantsu (works through PM on the ehentai forums) is another good translator who works for reasonable prices at a decent pace. Then there's the veterans like SaHa (expensive, usually month+ waiting list), Desudesu (no comment, I've tried commissioning him before but he doesn't seem to be answering my emails) and Biribiri (avoid, takes forever and then some to release anything).

Forbidden translations is another very fast one though you may want to use another editor, it's not really his specialty.

Oh and VVayfarer just started offering paid translations at the cheapest price you'll find and he offers full refund if you find a translation mistake. http://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showtopic=176997
