Group of dysfunctional teenagers have to investigate the Lightless realm, which is an expanding sphere of darkness that turns everything into metal, creates monsters, and just mindfucks the hell out of everything in general. Most of them aren't suited for it, but it has to be them because plot reasons. Lots of character introspection.

Wouldn't really call it a clusterfuck, the more common criticism was that it was just boring. I enjoyed it though.

The visuals weren't anything special. The lead-in for it was fantastic, but the rest was kind of eh. It's still pretty solid overall because of May'n. And while OP2 was perhaps a bit too happy, the second half of the show did end up being much more upbeat. It wouldn't fit the first half at all though.

I can see both sides.
