Agreed, but considering how much further it could have gone in that direction if Cygames had given the staff less creative freedom and really insisted it on making it a parade of card game characters, I think it hit the balance well enough.

We needed at least a two cour series that consisted mainly of their journey to Helheim, giving us a variety of wacky adventures that would have built up each of the four main character's personalities and their relationship to each other, so that way, when they do have to let Amira go at the end, it has far more impact and we can look back fondly at all the good times they shared together.
