EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A MASTER
Gen5 basically pandered in the best possible way to longterm fans by giving them what they wanted but also managed to hit newer players in just the right with all the new additiona. The game was also very pretty and had awesome atmosphere.
Gen3 had the same good things as what I said about the atmosphere in gen5. The island theme was great and also very unique. What made is great was the major improvements. Gen 2 was great for this same reason which is why I don't blame you for your comment but gen3 just did a better job at fixing both problems from the previous generation.
The thing was that both R/S and G/S had some pretty big flaws but also both managed to fix old flaws. The reason why I place gen3 over gen2 is because Emerald > Crystal. It was just much better executed.
TELL ME WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING FOR
At least those are what I think were some of the lyrics.
The immersion and artstyle was really good. Seasons, weather, and day/night worked really well. It's homage to previous gens and use of tropes wasn't in your face like gen6.
Also how B2W2 were set after BW with a followup story and new protagonists. It'd made replay so much better than before. In the past you'd finish ruby or sapphire and then have to replay the essentially same game for Emerald if you wanted the new content.
I think gen 5 did this in how they only had pokemon from that region in their pokedex until post-game. It was awesome trying to figure out the typings of all the pokemon again without immediately knowing them.
Enjoying tanking too much as of right now, but Machinist looks like it could be fun.
I'm not looking forward to every party having a Dragoon/Dark Knight combo because "lol it's just like FFIV ;9".
I wasn't talking about genwunners specifically. When I said long term fans I meant people who've played more than 1 or 2 previous generation games. GF usually tries to make each game clean and standalone so new kids and players can just jump right in and not wonder what they missed.
