Why do people keep saying that UBW failed as an adaption?

They tried to cram an entire route into one and a half hour of movie.

I don't get it either. The anime is just as boring as the route was in the VN. Seems like an accurate adaptation to me.

I didnt know that fate was adapted from a porn game before watching it but now its so obvious. All the characters are shallow, the female characters are all in love with Emiya for whatever reason, Emiya is a self insert useless character with plot armor... I was expecting ~super amazing~ art but it literally looks like a dating sim game. The fight scenes are barely impressive. Saber is the most bland female 'tough' character of all time

I'm more interested in how they're going to pull off Heaven's Feel with only a movie. It shits on UBW but it's so long

Zero is nearly as good as the VN, but I prefer HF to it. There's only a little disparity in quality unless you bring up the Fate route.

The thing about UBW is that you really need to have read Fate to put it into perspective.

The room where Kiritsugu and Kirei have their battle is a very interesting design choice. Setting such a battle in a large open hall lit entirely by white florescent ceiling lights is a pretty brilliant decision because it makes the setting completely unique from anything in the series before. From a visual stand point, these are the sort of conscious choices you want to make when creating a series like this.

Unlike any other battle in the series thus far, this is an indoors but open area, with no place to hide or run, and the entire room is brightly lit with white light. The distinct look it gives the battle makes it much more memorable and also presents a fair environment where there are no hidden tricks or advantages to either side. I really liked the set design for those reasons, even though it was clearly inspired by the test chamber in The Dark Knight. I didn't really find it out of place or strange.
