I know it's standard for anime but in Kyokai it was simply overdone to the point of the characters becoming obnoxious. The SoL scenes and interactions were painful to watch due to this.

I was in the threads and read those posts but they were nothing but theories loosely based on the show with no hard evidence. Those "explanations" were just some anons' speculations because the loose ends weren't neatly tied together at the end which is a sign of poor plot handling.
People were just fabricating things in their head and claiming the plot wasn't a mess.
