I wouldn't call Shinsekai Yori depressing, it was really well done but not depressing in any shape or form.

The snowfight scene near the end was quite good

I need to finish that. The first episode was amazing, but I've got both the rerelease of only two episodes, and the 3 episode original, which should I watch?
I just finished Welcome to the NHK.
I have a lifelong friend who is a hikikimori. The most depressing part about watching this for me was knowing what will inevitably happen one day.
His father will die. He will run out of money. With empty cupboards and an eviction notice on his door he will beg me for help(not looking forward to this conversation). He will then be faced with the choice of supporting himself or dying homeless.
Boku no Pico becauseyou'll never be a qt shota trap.;_;

I actually found the first few eps of FLCL depressing, even with the fun animation and music the problems and setting the characters lived in were pretty real.
Let's ignore the huge iron shaped factory and horns/robots growing out of people's heads.

Both. I used to own the two episode version on DVD.
Just because of this scene.

This show had a fucking great depiction of depression. Definitely a slow burn but the finale was satisfying and all in all it was fairly comfy.
