To be fair that happened in the intro of one of the episodes as a nightmare sequence. The effect certainly wasn't as strong as he realized it from a stupid dream and not him being psychotic from having a gaping wound inside him crawling around in a sewer.

I don't know about you all but I felt so ashamed watching that second season that I wouldn't even bother mentioning to anyone.

It's so bad that I'm really considering labeling a guilty pleasure in my excel.

So is there a chance for a longer rework that follows all / most of the manga? I kind figured the root A part of the title was used to allow for a "route B" at a later date

Ok so let me be concise

Anime was great, really well done, only autists will have some technical problems with it. The ending however is just retarded, I don't know what they were thinking rushing all of that manga content into one episode.

Any who :re is pretty much confirmed at this point so manga autists fuck yourselves we're getting another season :^)

I'd argue the writing was shaky from the start, s1 was even worse with pacing. The alternate end is pretty easy to overlook when you consider we did get some information that may be relevant to who's alive in RE: (maybe). Although they really dropped the ball on most fronts leaving out V14 and Kanou's lab. OVA might at least give us a good show of kanekipede's final form and give away a bit more info maybe a clown scene etc. I think overall the last episode was nowhere near the worst offense compared to leaving out those critical things.

Guys, I've read the manga up until the point where Kaneki half-kills Ayato.

It's been a few months since I read up to chapter 40 and it's been even longer since I saw the season 1 anime but from what I can tell, not much was left out.

Details over Rize's background and the doctor, Banjou and his crew getting more exposition, a tad more exposition overall but that's all I can remember so far.

Somebody know from the top off their head what else was missing?

An easy example: compare the Yamori fight. In the anime, it's shonen, with a few kagune attacks.
In the manga, we see his thoughts, where he thinks about how to best take Yamori down, he strategizes, and there's not just this shonen-esque kagune clashing. Kaneki actually wrestles Yamori into the wall while he attacks him.
It looks a lot more immersive and intense.

Well to be fair, the lack of explanation sucked and shit was underdeveloped. Everything felt really pointless or random and like it could've easily been avoided, especially Hide's death, Amon's death and most of the other stuff, too.

Ignoring this and that they obviously ran out of animation budget (hence having Kaneki walk for 10 minutes) from an emotional standpoint it was perfection though.

When watching I didn't care about the plotholes, only after when thinking about it I got pretty mad because it all made very little sense.

If you've read the manga I don't think there's much to complain though since you do have the information.
It's like with the Battle Royale movie, I was initially angry as fuck because they left out basically everything characterwise and made it a dumb splatter, but if you view the movie as an addition or supplement of some sort that shouldn't stand on its own, it's okay.

Of course not being able to stand on its own is a rather large flaw but as a manga reader I think I could look past that.

In the manga, Kaneki and Arima fought, and Kaneki was presumed dead. We found out about the clowns. We were shown Eto's plans with Yoshimura, the aftermath of the Anteiku Raid from the CCG side.
Yes, a lot of people hated that it seemed like this was just how it ended in the manga, and rightfully so, but it's not nearly as bad as in the anime.

Yes, and Touka's parents died, and his brother became part of a ghoul terrorist group, and Eto had no parents, only rivals from the moment she was dropped in the sewer by Yoshimura. Kaneki has gone through worse, and it's extremely out of character for him to go suicidal over that. Will it hurt him? Obviously. Turn him suicidal? No.

Don't see a problem with it, it shows Kaneki appearing to have black hair to show how he changed back to how he used to be.

He was holding Hide and was nonthreatening. Not to forget the only one eye they knew of would've been Eto so shooting would mean instant death.

I think Im one of the few who actually liked the ending. I would have preferred if they followed the manga but I still thought it was good. Although the whole series is shit.

Am I the only one that liked the walking scene? While I have my gripes with the ending and the overall execution of the anime, I liked where it was trying to go, though it could have been done better, but not in the span of 20 minutes.

That's what I got from the last episode. The ambiguity with his confrontation of Arima left much to be desired, but I can understand why they would cut it out given the direction this episode went, as much as I would have loved to see the absolute mindfuck that Kaneki goes through in his fight with Arima in the manga. Also, I found that the walk to Arima in the anime would have been more powerful if they had given more information on Arima and his reputation as the god of death to ghouls. Having read the manga, it felt like Kaneki was walking to his execution with that unwavering somber expression.

My biggest problem with this episode was that scene when Kaneki held Hide, then the white cloth got blown away by the wind, but the next shot still shows Hide covered with the damn cloth.

The scenes in the walking I think were a good addition. For much of the anime, you see much of the CCG troops as emotionless, faceless grunts and seeing them trying to help each other stay alive and mourning the loss of their friends was nice, as well as the massive casualties on all sides further highlighting the futility that Kaneki might have realized.

I mean technically you can make a twist with takizawa appearing out of nowhere and then showing later that he has the owls kagune to imply that they are using yoshimura.

Please no.I was fine with Root A because i understood that the tg manga was not very popular when the season was being made but at this point they are just beating me to death with the anime if they make a 3rd season. People should just read the manga. If you don't wanna then whatever. TG will be doing great without you.
