Akame ga kiru roughly translates to Red eye killer, which I previously thought was a direct reference to the character Akame. It seemed evident that she was the intended filler of the role especially after taking into account the anime and her being one of the only survivors when the everything settled but with Tatsumi fusing with his teigu and developing incursio's eye, in his base form, one can argue that he now fits the description of "akame ga kiru" and may be who the author was referring to as the Red eye killer.

Tatsumi isn't bad, but he's just the genetic shounen protagonist: the pure hearted, handsome young boy who has no idea what he's getting into but somehow still reels in mad pussy which he rejects by being pure and spilling spaghetti. Akame as a protagonist might've given everything a different spin.

Also, AgK's main problem is that it sets up interesting shit, but never elaborates. For fucks sake, we don't even know the name of the Empire, or the name of the Capital. Kyoroch was named, so why not the Capital? Or is it just called "The Capital" of "The Empire"? That must make diplomacy really, really awkward.
