Gotta order a new one too, i'm getting through a season of something every week or two atm but for every season I finish I grab another 10. Thats what happens when you stop watching for 5 or 6 years.

All this time I've been rewatching anime with someone who's trying to get into it.

I don't keep backlog. There is just too much interesting stuff released at one point or another, there is absolutely no fuckin way to keep up anyway. So I just watch whatever I feel like and delete it afterwards, same goes for films and games. Not for books tho, I have the ones I actually like in paper and stuff

There are more or less 500 good anime out there, from the 80s to nowadays. Drop that roughly to 300 if you take into account personal taste and preferences. Anyone with too much of a difference (800+) is just a weebshit who will watch whatever comes out of glorious cultural nippon.

Our standards may differ, but I under no circumstances believe there are 500 titles of actual merit in this medium, even 300.

Then again, it does all depend on perspective and why you watch. I'll be the first to attest to the fact that if you're looking for works of actual merit, this is not the ideal medium for you.

This is also incredibly true. I've seen people in the 250-400 range who haven't even watched shit like Tatami Galaxy or Mushishi, yet spout shit like they have the guide to the medium written on the back of their hand.

I would say ~500 anime watched is around the point where you would stop (aside from seasonal watching) if you're trying to actively seek the best the medium has to offer and find the works with the most merit. Maybe less, maybe more, depending on the person.

However the last 6 months ish I just started dropping them even if they fell in the range of shows I normally watch.
