it was pretty good but that music was awful
1980s epic guitar solos have no place in star wars which was built off clasical orchestral pieces.
>>
>>122990324
paul johnson IS otaking
>>
>>122990896
He was going for a Heavy Metal feel from the looks of it. Which I think fits very well considering these are badasses piloting TIE Fighters instead of Luke and his rag tag Rebels.
>>
>>122990896
>which was built off orchestral pieces
Irrelevance.
>>
>>122991096
Yeah I get that, I just didn't feel it because Star Wars IS orchestra.
It doesn't feel right
After seeing the logo I was hoping to hear something like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF2ahXSwG_I
>>

I think he's going for the 80's throwback feel more than the starwars feel, even though it is in that setting.

But... perhaps it could?
>>

>>
>>122990740
What do TIE Interceptors have to do with Victory-class Star Destroyers or not?
What's wrong with having a couple of Impstar Deuces and an Interdictor handle a tiny Rebel convoy of one frigate, two corvettes, and three transports?
>>
>>122991957
The empire had mostly phased out clones and switched to conscripts by the time the movies happened, since they didn't want to rely on Kamino after they tried to pull their own rebellion and no one else could make clones worth a damn.

They used the EU to explain that shit though. Might be different now that Disney axed most of it.

The style is nice, but I have two issues with it

1. nothing seems to have any inertia. not the people, not the ships, not the camera. it's kinda jarring.
2. it may just be the youtube compression, but even on 720p there's strong aliasing everywhere

What if Paul "Otaking" Johnson spent his time improving his art/animation fundamentals instead of continuing his puerile and masturbatory crusade to revive "80s shading"? Would he actually become a decent artist capable of producing competently made animation?
>>
>>122994511
>>122994731

How can you seriously say this is shit art?

I mean... the movement and inertia are not there so there's something left to improve in the animation. But this is definitely really impressive for an one-man job.

I never understood this edgelord attitude where anyone who works for something and achieves something is shit. Grop up.
>>
Why can't /a/ produce something like this?
>>
>>122994925

cats with attention deficit disorder?

>>
>>122994876
because otaking and his ridiculous assertions about art ought to be taken down a peg whenever possible. I don't hate the guy, and I don't hate the animation, but if you see vitriol about him, it's partly because of the work itself, and partly because of the sort of person he is. If you don't know otaking, then that's maybe why you don't get it.
>>
>>122994925

Why can't you?
>>
>>122994925
/a/ know shits about the animation process and doesn't have the attention span of a clear mongoose.
>>
>>122995068
what about otaking that makes one slam good stuff, just to get at the guy himself?
>>
>>122994876
>How can you seriously say this is shit art?
Because it is. Otaking's draftsmanship is complete balls. Always has been, unfortunately always will be. His hideous idea of "shading" doesn't help at all.
>But this is definitely really impressive for an one-man job.
It's impressive that he put the effort in. The result of the effort is not very impressive though.
>>
>>122994876
>How can you seriously say this is shit art?
Because it's bad. It's as simple as that. You want me to write an essay? It's not good technically nor stylistically. I'm not saying it's the worse, but come on.

The colors, the shading, noses, the mecha.
Not so good: faces/bodies animation, transition too fast.

I had never heard of Otaking before today; I don't know what he's said, nor do I care, but this short is fucking amazing, even morose considering he did it alone without pay.

Of course there are going to be minor nuances that nitpicking retards like yourself who are holding an agenda, but it still looks better than most anime today, certainly in terms of animation, and it takes a fucktonne of passion, ambition and love to make something like this; something you faggots haven't, and never will understand.

There are plenty of anime that adopt similar colour schemes; it's called a stylistic choice, and regardless of whether you like it or not, it doesn't affect the overall quality much.

The effort he invested in lighting reflections alone sets this fucking miles ahead of most modern anime, but of course, you'll conveniently ignore things like this with that agenda of yours.

Yeah and the CGI series actually has people getting blown apart, characters being graphically killed and shows the lore and fluff of events between Episode II and Episode III in their entirety.

The separation between clones and stormtroopers has never really been a secret.
But with certain parts of the internet throwing a hissy fit over the EU canon purge, it's good to point out that a large chunk of non-movie material is still more or less treated as canon by the current production teams.
>>
>>122990420

Even the new Star Wars Commander game which is post-EU liquidlization has EU stuff right back in the canon.

Its pretty nice. I just still miss Heir to the Empire and Thrawn stuff.

>internet throwing a hissy fit over EU canon purge
Dude to be fair, Star Wars had a net worth of about 30 billion USD when Disney bought it and Lucas Arts. Of that revenue, EU novels alone represent over 2.5 billion, and there has always only be a single televised commercial for Star Wars novels and books.

Lots of people loved EU. They put money into it.

Dooku's commander is named Tam, he's from an aquatic species of aliens who strongly resemble bipedal humanoid versions of Great White sharks. He's killed by having an explosive ballistic knives stabbed into his chest and head.

Scene even shows part of his skull and head floating in a small mist of blood as his corpse drops away into the ocean. TCW CGI series has lots of graphic death scenes unlike CW.
