"Prester" was the space colony where all of S1 happened. The nations of Anatoray and Disith were on opposite sides of the hourglass shaped station. Exile took them from Prester to Earth at the end of S1, and S2 took place there.

I honestly liked LE2 due to its better world building. I didn't dislike the characters and I liked the battles. I don't think it was superior to the first, but I still really enjoyed it and I think people are underrating it.

LE2 established nations and territories much better than LE1. It shows how ineffective LE1 was when people ITT are still didn't quite understand how the Exile worked or where everything took place. LE2 took more time to explain things. Exposition isn't necessarily a good thing, but it's still better than having to explain things through external, complementary material. In fact, you can tell that the world building is bad when it needs that stuff. LE2 didn't. And no, it didn't all come from LE1. LE1 established the guilds, why the Exile existed and that the Earth was still inhabited and well. LE2 is where they explained the state of nations on Earth.

And besides that, I'm a complete sucker for when an anime shows a map of a fantasy world and pinpoint where things are and where events take place.

Overall, though, LE1 has 2 beat in a lot of other areas, so I'm not going to deny it's the better show.

Most of those nations were completely generic or uncharacterized though. I'm not going to pretend the countries in S1 were richly detailed masterpieces or anything but at least we spent enough time with them to get an idea of who they were.

Despite it's shortcomings as a series, it's still probably one of the best examples of 'the big question'-styled narrative in recent memory.

Everything, from the plot and story, to the events of the world, to the characters themselves, and even subtle elements of the visual design and aesthetic were all fueled by the big mystery that drove the world. Little hints about the nature of the world, and the world's nature itself, permeated every scene, every moment and every action. The setting drove the narrative, while also acting as a character in it, a character that was present in almost every scene and almost always had something subtle to contribute. It's incredible because despite being rare, it's also something that's incredible hard to do. It went so far beyond traditional worldbuilding.

The racing episode, in particular, was just absolutely incredible. Something that deserves to be thought of an achievement of animation, but is sadly sold short by the general mediocrity of the show as a whole.
