Big O is better than Eva, because it's not ignorant enough to tackle mutiple philosophical questions that are far beyond it.
Big O's got its nice ideas and generally sticks with them.

Big O didn't have the right amount of action.
Big O had too much action.
THAT is one of its biggest flaw.
Big O should have shown up every 2-3 episodes but have longer fights rather than all these little ones every episode.
Every episode had to tie its plot to robot fights, character development and the expansion of the world.
With Big O's very out there plot, eccentric characters and mysterious world, it's too much all in one episode.
Would have been better if there were episodes that concentrated on each one individually, I think.

But I don't think I know how to fix Big O
I just know it needs fixing.
There's one of the best series ever in there some where.
Too bad it was mishandled by essentially everyone.

Big O is the only anime besides Bebop and Black Lagoon that I actively recommend the dub over the sub.

The "war" is a set of falsely implanted memories. The Deuses and domes represent the previous society. The Deuses weren't supposed to be uncovered however which causes things to get out of hand. I don't know anything about the production of this series, but it seemed to me like they were shooting for a longer story and were suddenly informed they ain't getting any money so they just cramped whatever they had into one convoluted ideep-1you ending.

That's almost exactly how it went. Season 1 was produced in Japan and ended in the middle of a battle. It wasn't popular in Japan, but it was popular with western audiences, especially the U.S so CN funded it for season 2. The show was popular on CN/Toonami and CN were going to make a season 3 so they asked the writers to not use the ending they had in mind and to use an ambiguous open-ended one to give them room for a season 3. But season 3 never happen because DVD sales weren't great and so CN gave up on producing season 3 and left it as is. That's why I hate people who defend the anime ending because it wasn't even the best choice out of the possible endings the writers/producers had in mind.

It also explains why everything becomes 2deep4u by season 2 since CN guys had some say in the production of season 2 and told them to reveal some if not most of the mystery behind the show - which I believe was a bad mistake since it progressed the story too fast.

In conclusion, I hope that CN/Adult Swim changes their mind and give us at least an OVA to finish off that shit ending we got since they own the rights to season 2 and could theoretically make an OVA or season 3. Or maybe a reboot of the series that goes by the vision of Katayama would be fine.

Both disliked each others film.
To compromise they give the footage to an independent editor and they make a film that goes halfway between both men.
Both men dislike this edit but it goes to theatres with both unhappy.
