The current registeration method requires IRC and surprise surprise, it doesn't work. Using IRC isn't hard. Installing an userscript is not hard. Modifying cookies is not hard.

For any secret registration method you can come up with, someone will write a detailed instruction on Reddit. And maybe even a browser plugin that will do most of the shit for you.
