Dunno, they're just not interesting. Technically they look pretty and follow the game faithfully, but I think maybe that's the problem.

P3 never had a good story. It's not what people played it for. It was popular for its waifus, dungeon crawling, and unique atmosphere. When you put it into movie form it's not special, and the atmosphere just makes you feel uncomfortable instead of engaged. It's just not nearly as enjoyable to watch as the P4 adaptation.

Okay I like the movie

Halfway through I didn't really enjoy it that much but once you realize what AIC is trying to do with Makoto I really like what they did as they want to really have him develop as a person.

Movie 3 is going to be intense

The first movie, P3 MC felt generic, edgy because he literally did not give a fuck about anything. That's why he was so reckless throughout the whole thing and why Yukari was so angry with him during Operation Rescue Fuuka.

Makoto only begins to care about others and slightly about himself, through his interactions with Yukari and Junpei, but most of his development occurs during his encounters with Fuuka.

It's why he's able to smile at the end of Movie 1 and begins to fear losing his bonds in Movie 2.
