And the dub didn't even really change the official names, with a few exceptions. It just gave them nicknames. With that said, this would seem to be a series intended to justify some of 02's directions, filling in gaps and elaborating on "certain things"...

I understand, as much as there's a lot of people who dislike 02, it's unfortunately some form of a key element in Tri.

This is where I think they're trying to compromise; they know that because Tri is a Sequel/Prequel or sorts, the majority of their roadblocks are:

-That there are fans (old and new) of 02 (target that audience as well);
-They need to deal with some ground work set by the previous staff and 02 altogether Unless they plan on doing an ALT universe (that takes a slightly different route from 02) -which probably isn't going to happen-;
-Hiroyuki Kakudou, Hiromi Seki and Genki Yoshimura's influence in some way

They'll have to factor that all in somehow while attempting to produce a new experience, which will be quite the challenge. I'm sure they're doing what they can, but as the Tri promotional ads suggest, their strategy is trying to evoke S1 nostalgia to approach this series,which might work to their advantage.

Nah I just never saw the appeal in them. Braveheart got old because they CONSTANTLY KEPT PLAYING IT and generally just didn't get me hyped up. Butterfly was okay I guess. I can see the sentimental value of both songs though given that they're frequently ranked high on all time best anime song lists but I could never really care. Maybe it's something you have to had grown up with Tsubasa o Kudasai.

I kind of like Braveheart more than Butter-fly (for that dreamy twinkly intro, man) but they do play it an awful damn lot for every Digimon evolution/transformation/whatever the fuck it's called.

I grew up with the dub. But it seems quite a bit was changed around, so it's nice to go back and watch the original (and because I'm not a weeaboo, I need the subtitles).
