Yuuki Yuuna, Sabagebu, and Ping Pong were all really good. If you count sequels of stuff from previous years, Mushishi and Monogatari are also up there. Winter season was kind of weak.

Setting isn't all, something being CGDCT isn't positive. The characters in Ping Pong are miles ahead of Yuki Yuna which is by the way a drama and therefore must bait the viewer into caring about its characters where it fails unbelievably hard by making them as flat as possible. Whereas in Ping Pong the characters are carefulky developped through realistic character interaction(where Yuki fails yet again), which leads the audience to qxtually care about them whenever something dramatic happens.There's a lot more to address but I think this is enough to prove my point.

If continuations count, then Mushishi Zoku Shou. It definitely had the episode of the year too (Lightning's End. Just, holy shit.)
Shingeki no Bahamut for audience award. Favaro was a great MC. It really nailed the action/adventure genre.

Barakomon did everything right. Honorable mention. Space Dandy was creative. It was like watching animators have fun and cut loose. It's essentially Otaku no Video for this decade. Nothing too exciting, but it brought a lot of people together and they made something for them.

Shirobako is great. It's another one of the best.

Yes. There are only one duel so far that felt pointless. The side characters are all fairly developed. Action Duels can occasionally go over the top similar to 5Ds. Plot has foreshadowing and interesting bits everywhere.
