Has there been any TV series, OVA's or Films that have convinced you that CGI is a proper medium to cover more complex scenes?
Not really, but videos games have somewhat.
It all comes down to budget.

The Naruto game cutscenes always impressed me more than any of the anime adaptations. Be it Series, OVA or Film.
CyberConnect2 in general has some amazing magic with how much justice they're able to do to their adaptations.

Though they do love their nuke explosion clouds

Kamikaze Douga also does a fantastic job at CGI, with the cutscenes in Fire Emblem: Awakening and the JoJo openings.

This. Video games do a better job of this than anime studios.

Didn't know they also did the Jojo Magazine CM's. I wouldn't mind seeing an entire 3DCG production done by them.

Game devs do a better job that anyone with CG at this point. They're basically held back by consumer hardware, but the moment they don't have to give a shit about that and do whatever the fuck they want they make Pixar look like amateurs.
It's why Ubisoft should stop making AssCreed games and just make films out of it. Their CGI promos for AssCreed have been fantastic across the board minus that shitty cover by Lorde.
The opening scene in Gundam Origin I couldn't see being done in 2D with the same complexity. The mecha looked too light and springy as they made their attack, though.
>>122241811
Oh shit I had no idea they did the Gatchaman Crowds OP too. I fucking loved the CGI in that.
>>122241955
?
They looked too organic and not artificial enough?
Super high budgeted western movies and video games have.
Berserk Golden Age Arc 3 Spoiler webm
I would rather have a production be short and sweet if it's able to keep the animation consistently looking good all around instead of having scenes like in

throwing things off

Precure EDs.
If they can make frilly dresses and cute girls work, what do I have left to complain about?
CG mecha have been decent for a while now.
>>122241843
Ubisoft and the game companies generally aren't the ones who make the cinematics. They contract out to a studio that specializes in CGI and THEY'RE the ones who make it to the specifications of the game's producers.

Except that movie was ugly as fuck
Oh yeah the CGI armor for Garo looks great but unfortunately it REALLY clashes with the rest of 2D art.
>>122242553
That movie was ugly as shit.
>>122242678
if 5 fps is decent.
>>122243256
Heeeey that's to make it look more "Anime'y"!
>>122243003
the matallic look sticks out like a sore thumb
>>122243003
The CG started to blend in rather well towards the end, might just be me getting used to it though.

Arpeggio. The CGI is gorgeous and for what the show wants to accomplish, sine qua non.
Mostly CGI mechas. It can work from shows like Gundam, where the mechas and ships are CGI, to shows like GitS where small robots (the tachikomas) are CGI.

Black Rock Shooter?

no. mostly acceptable with some serious flaws here and there.

If you mean made in Japan then no. If you mean the power of murricah then yes.

First episode of SYD season 2, that's cool too though
