Is DAL worth the read? I've seen both seasons of the anime, but it hasn't compelled me to go to the novels yet.

It's fun stuff. However, it's not something mind blowing, where it's a pretty standard LN affair. I would say that the more interesting part is that the author has put some planning into the future, though it gets kind of derailed after volume 5 due to the popularity spike.
