I'd say Midway will be the finale of the show and the Wo that was damaged in the last episode will come back as the final boss. Since Fubuki got her kai 2 to commemorate her being the main character of the anime, that's probably going to happen, she'll finally be in the same fleet as Akagi-senpai, and she'll save everyone. It's not very exciting, but I feel like anything more would be asking too much of this show.

From a post I made in an old thread during a conversation about this topic:

I actually thought extensively about this concept around when GuP was airing. Instead of a full complement of crew a ship could be nearly 100% automated with the action taking place mainly in decision making on the bridge. Essentially, similar to Arpeggio minus the mental models and in a GuP-like tourney setting.

Theoretically each ship could probably be crewed by 5-15 cute schoolgirls each assigned to a station, the number of which depends on the size of the ship. A DD might only have about 5 stations for Command, Navigation, Fire Control, Damage Control, and Communication, cruisers and BBs might add more specialized stations for fire control like splitting them between main battery and secondary/AA, and more damage controls covering different sections of the ship. CVs and ships equipped with catapults would have a Flight Deck Operations station and one station per wing of aircraft controlling them like RC planes.

Each ship would be more or less built-to-blueprint but have a magic unsinkable citadel which tracks damage like in GuP and has enough magic bouyancy and built-in propulsion to keep the whole ship afloat even after "sinking".

Also this would make a pretty cool videogame too I guess so there's that.

Move Jun'you to the bottom and Akagi once you remodel her. Make sure they're modernized and put your most taiha'd ship as flagship for extra protection that comes with the position. If you make it to the last battle chances are you'll have to go into night battle so you want your CVs at the bottom since they aren't going to do shit and they'll actually be a disadvantage because your fleet will skip a turn.
