Ikuni makes true art. He might have been influenced by Dezaki, but only stylistically. Dezaki made corny shit for masses, I just can't accept something like Space Cobra as having artistic merit. Shitbo is just a Dezaki copycat with some otaku flavor, I don't see why I should appreciate his work

I don't care about Oshii enough to watch 200 episodes of UY, which is one of the first prime examples of otaku pandering garbage in the history of anime. I don't care about fapping to Lum's ass and Oshii being its director is not enough to make me care. I should get around to watching Gosenzosama Banbanzai though.

I never said I was familiar with every single work these director did, which quite frankly I'm sure the vast majority is not noteworthy. I don't see why you think watching a director's entire body of work is necessary to regard them as good or bad.
