Main characters designs now and in colors.
Haruhi and Kyon look terrible.
Everyone else is kind of allright.
the art just looks like all the bullshit that's been coming out lately. I don't mind it for new shit but i mean c'mon you gotta know only haruhi fans are gonna watch it consistently so why not make the arts a little bit similar to the original. How do those with a haruhi waifu feel about the new look?
They changed it, so now it sucks.
I don't actually think there is anything wrong with these character designs per se. It's just... different to what we're used to. Shitsux
Honestly they're pretty horrible. They're not appealing to look at. It's like what happened to Hayate when it went to Manglobe. The character designs suffered.
Something tells me they're doing this to gauge interest for S3. If it sells well, then S3 may be a possibility in the near future.
And I don't understand why they do.
Did they get butthurt over the chibi designs of haruhi-chan because they were "different"?
Nope, there was no reason because it was a spin-off, same thing here.
T-that's not the Nagato-san I know
haruhi chan were shorts with no real direction, they advertised it as fan service. silliness was expected, even then the chibi style atleast didn't make them look like fluffy bitches, they still had sharp angles. This is a story that we all secretly wanted when the movie came out. Its not really fair to compare the too.
one was to be silly, it called for the character design this one is supposed be a spin off yes but a spin off of an alternate timline that we saw in the cannon series. You would have a point if we never saw how the other universe looked but we did in the movie and this is supposed to be that same universe. Denial ain't just a river in egypt, friend.
The difference is that the KyoAni character designs actually looked good. If anything, they improved on the original designs. By contrast, these designs look very unattractive and would easily turn off fans and non-fans alike.
Haruhi-chan was supposed to be silly, and this one is supposed to be a romance from Yuki's point of view.
Even if the story is set in an alternate timeline it doesn't have to have the same design as the main series, especially when the manga it's adapting already has a different character design.
I'm a big fan of the movie, and this is my point of view.
It's a spin-off, deal with the new designs.
Be happy there's more Haruhi and that even if they fuck it up it doesn't matter because it's not canon.
As much as we're happy that there's more Haruhi on the way in whatever form, these character designs are unacceptable. I actually don't mind having a redesign, but even for a redesign these look poor. Oregairu's character design change when they moved to Feel looked better than this.
but the design ruins the whole feel of the series, but now it looks like everyone is gonna go to the new indoor pool that haruhi just so happened to receive the exact amount of free tickets for all her friends to go so that she can get nagato alone with kyon.
Who are these people?
I bet they sound wrong too.
I think they're fine.
More cutesy and round perfectly fitted for the type of story we're having.
Kyon's change makes sense considering he isn't the sarcastic protagonist, he's a love interest now.
>but the design ruins the whole feel of the series
How do you know how the series feel yet?
It's a spin-off so of course the goal isn't to feel the same as the main series. The new character designs help to achieve that.
>Kyon's change makes sense considering he isn't the sarcastic protagonist, he's a love interest now.
You've read the manga? Then it's okay even though I still prefer the sarcastic protagonist design.
>redesgined into generic highschool MC
>zero snark if it stays true to the manga
I actually think this a better desing. Kyoani made Kyon too old for a 17 yo
Mikuro looks like Shoko from Koe no katachi
haruhi is terrible in every single way
>bothering to learn a new language just to watch their children's cartoons
i will watch just for this scene animated
This thread and everything in it is horrible
>If anything these designs look dated compared to the originals.
Dude, all of the girls in the originals look like they came straight from an old Key VN with their ridiculously uguu faces. I mean SHIT look at how far apart their huge eyes are in most scenes and in most promo art. Nobody can defend this garbage (although the Yuki-chan artstyle is boring soft crap so it ain't much better either).
Well, the designs are based off the manga spin-off, and they're pretty close to that.
So comparing them to the Kyoani Haruhi show isn't that correct, when the source is different already.
That said Kyon and Haruhi are terrible.
The other aren't that bad, given that you're not comparing them to LN/Kyoani designs, as unrelated thing.
Because this is pretty much unrelated, not your S3
never, deal with it.
I'm not a fan of this whole Yuki-chan thing, but I knew about it, so I can accept her "softer" design. The rest of the cast is okay, although Haruhi could have done with "sharper" eyes.
All except Kyon. He looks terrible. The other characters were merely "softened" to varying degrees, but he's outright replaced by the current generic anime boy.
Don't most haruhi-fags like haruhi more instead yuki? Also prism ilya didn't sell well even though they're fate series franchise.
I doubt they would buy it tho if they don't give ultimatum like "If yuki-chan doesn't sell well, you would not get haruhi s3"
>Don't most haruhi-fags like haruhi more instead yuki?
Nagato has a lot of followers, especially after the movie came out.
However this Yuki-chan will probably have a clearly distinct personality from the one we are accustomed to, so I'm not sure if it will be liked or not.
I think Yuki and Kyon are the only ones who look irredeemably bad. Everyone else is tolerable at least.
I know they are not Kyoani but GOD DMAN.
I guess nobody cares enough about Mikuru to give opinions about her design either way
I guess becaue sarcastic Kyon might actually have a personality. This could cause problems with disapperance-Yuki that they would have to work out instead of asspull-'Then she got hit by a car'-drama! Can't have that, they're the perfect match made in heaven after all!
Well done, fucking well done.
Alternate universe Haruhi where Nagato is a moeblob instead of an emotionless reality-warping alien.
I assume this normalcy extends to everybody: Mikuru isn't a time traveler, Koizumi isn't an Esper, and Haruhi isn't a god oblivious to her own powers?
It looks more like Working! S3 than Haruhi
>I don't even remember what she has done in the story.
Gave Marshmallow Hell to Yuki.
Well, I don't bias like you guys
I don't really mind at all, to be honest, the "softer" look work quite well for her.
Kyon and Haruhi on the other hand are even worse than the manga, which isn't that good either.
I can't. I can't even.
When season 2 came along, I was disgruntled with the change in artstyle, but I came to accept it because it was some semblance of tolerable.
This? This is bullshit, especially Kyon's design. It might as well be a different character.
The future, anon. The S3 replacement. And it hasn't even begun yet.
Besides Koizumi and Mikuru (Who are not terribad), I like this design. Can't wait to see her steal the show.
Well, across whole manga there are two cases when he ends falling on Yuki. But never it was really his fault. First time it was Yuki who was falling and pulled him to herself, Second time he was brutally kicked by his sister.
>just finished Surprise
>great enough to save anime
>nope only Yuki-chan
>tfw Koizumi used ESP
to kick the faggot's ass
What the fuck am i watching?
Its really really shit
Could be worse.
Never liked Asakura anyway. Taniguchi has shit taste
Moeblob looks even more moeblob. Noting wrong here.
Like with Mikuru, the style is works here.
I'm saying the first season was the better one, if not the best style that they should've kept with.
>muh Kyon never doe anything like he's a protagonist from romantic comedy loosely mixed with sci-fi elements
>he surely never walked into room while Haruhi changed clothes of Mikuru or even fall on the floor and saw her panties
Not sure if delusional or just hypocrisy.
Ah, right. The movie.
I suppose I can agree with you there that the movie was quite well done.
Maybe I was just too used to the first season. It took ages for S2 to come out.
here have then png, i am shit at this though
The mangadesigns are acceptable.
The only one whose design feels off is Kyon's to be honest.
Every other character seems like a nice cross between the manga designs and the original designs by the creator.
I don't see why the KyoAni designs get so much praise, they hardly look any different from any other KyoAni crap and compared to all the other versions, including the LN designs, they always looked incredibly bland.
Again, Kyon's the only one here I think who looks a little generic and unrecognizable here, but I'd rather wait and see his character in action in the series with the original VA, because I think what made Kyon look distinct from the other characters in the KyoAni series was mostly his bored sleepy eyed look.
Well there are a few parts in the manga where Kyon comes off as kind of a dick, like when he first meets Yuki in the library and tells her that she's hopeless.
I actually thought that was funny because that's when Yuki first meets and falls for Kyon, but he kind of lazily helped her cause she seemed really pathetic.
>Nobody cares about Mikuru anyway
But muh yuri
>not tired of life in general kyon
Why is this allowed?
Actually there is one more case. Although it's more throwing than falling.
This is the kind of delusion that gets people into this spinoff garbage.
The recurring gag or theme is that other people keep getting in the way, especially after Haruhi shows up. I wouldn't call it a will they or won't they situation or a harem. It's pretty obvious the two want to do it with each other specifically.
Well, let's see. Yuki confessed but then she got amnesia so she forgot. Then Kyon confessed but he intentionally did it during fireworks so she wouldn't hear. And now there's love triangle bullshit I'm not invested in enough to see get resolved.
>I wouldn't call it a will they or won't they situation or a harem. It's pretty obvious the two want to do it with each other specifically.
The fact that they don't is what makes it a will-they-or-won't-they.
