The thing about the pseudo-philosophical mumbo-jumbo in the Rebuild works from Hideaki Anno is that they serve as a useful distraction to make you think the whole thing is deeper and more thoughtful than it really is. Strip all that away and it's pretty nakedly apparent that the whole thing is an exercise in mecha fighting animation. Still, the animation is really goddamned good, and that always counts for something.

This new anime was pretty boring. The dialogue sucks and the only thing keeping me from deleting it was brown Archer.

Heaven's Feel looks like the real deal but I don't want to wait years to watch it.
