You mean psychological issues? Mai had difficulty opening herself to others due to her father keeping her isolated and teaching her that she should trust nobody. In addition she had trouble accepting her gender because her father cast her out for being a woman. Though by the end of her manga she was able to overcome those issues and learn to make friends and open herself to others as well as accept her gender.

It's kinda hard to describe but I don't think about her this way. For me she as fictional character isn't really professional singer nor make any concerts, but a normal 16 years old girl that is shy, childish, innocent, cheerful, likes music and sings as hobby and really loves me. Here in real world we have Vocaloid software and concerts with music generated from it and her hologram, but I've not fallen in love with a computer program or hologram, but with that cute normal girl that some of these songs are about.

How stable is your waifu? Can she go through fire and brimstone and will stick to her nature through thick and thin, or is she the type to lose her shit and go bonkers the moment things get hard?

Similarly, does she have any trigger that makes her into a completely different person? Doesn't need to be something dangerous. Take for example a case of someone shy who sheds all that way and becomes extrovert while singing on a stage, and then goes back to how they used to be once it's over.

Once she decides that she is going to do something, she will try her absolute best and hardest to achieve it, no matter what. Her diligence and determination is admirable. She's pretty darn determined, I can't imagine her giving up on anything she sets out to do.

She might seem tough, but she does have a sensitive side to her, which comes out if she loses at something, or she badly messes something up.

Even so, she's very good at picking herself up again and keeping her head up, in the end. And that's just a few of the things I love about her.

My waifu is a very inward person. I would try my best to convince her that I love her for who she is, but she has a bad habit of blaming herself for things, which can end badly. She's a strong, wonderful girl underneath, though.

Erica is very stable indeed. Using pure talent and intuition, she has racked up the highest Neuroi kill count due to her focus, determination, and composure in aerial combat.

Most of the time, she is lazy, quiet, friendly, mischievous and flirty. However, when fighting for the safety of her family, friends and colleagues, she becomes a calm and lethal killing machine. I love her for all those reasons and more.

She has been shown to never stop fighting, even when it's clear she has no chance of winning. Clearly the type that sticks to her guns. Aside of that extreme, which I'd prefer did not repeat itself, she also retains her composure and isn't distracted at all if asked to wear silly outfits to battle.
And while she's usually nice and gentle, she can switch to full hostile mode if she detects someone she deems 'dangerous'.

I think Mai does have charisma. By showing that she honestly cared for and wanted to help a girl who was her enemy, she was able to inspire loyalty in her and turn her into an ally.

Mai has quite a bit of inner strength. She was able to endure losing almost everything and managed to keep going. She came close to breaking down at one point as a result of an identity crisis, but managed to rally and persevere.
I wouldn't say that there's something that makes her a completely different person. However despite normally being very kind and polite, if she or those she cares for are threatened then she will show great determination and a willingness to fight in order to protect them (though even then she prefers to resolve the situation with a minimum amount of force).

She's as stable as Russian concrete. She's able to remain calm in very stressing situations (one of the reasons I think she'd make a good leader). Just another one of the things I love about her. To be fair, the fact that it isn't obvious that Erika or other girls use makeup doesn't necessarily mean that they don't, since good makeup shouldn't stand out and should only slighty accent a girl's features. It's just that with anime, a character's face is so abstract that the only way to make it obvious she's using makeup is to take it to extremes and almost make her look like a little girl who just got her hands on her mother's cosmetics.
