1. The industry is shit.
2. The middle managers are ruining everything. Ghibli mismanaged hundreds of millions of dollars.
3. Digital animation, while cheaper and producing a better average quality than any time before, looks like ass.
4. Increasing amounts of awful 3DCG.
5. Japan only knows how to pander to Otaku/fujoshis, or Oji-sans. They have completely lost touch with the average Japanese person.
6. Outsourcing is killing the industry.
7. Japan's technophobia is killing the internet. Smaller studios could make bank streaming shows they've made.
8. Anime film is fucking dead. One or two movies a year will try to imitate Miyazaki, but they'll usually be just that, pale imitations.
9. Anime OVAs are fucking dead
10. All the creative work in anime is being done in 12 or 13 episode series or in shorts that no one will see outside of art festivals.

My main complaint about anime is that it just feels rushed and poorly made as of late, but that really applies to western cartoons and movies too. No one seems to come up with a new idea, and all we get is something along the lines of a dense MC in a highschool setting who goes on a journey or other development to eventually "fulfill" himself. Similarly, every western movie is explosions, loud sub-woofer noises, and muscular men in their 30s with shaved heads.

TL;DR: some new ideas or innovation would be nice.

>I hate Anime. It is the worst thing to have ever been created throughout the entire history of the earth. I have -100 respect points (out of 10) for every person who sees anime as anything above garbage. If anime was a person I would stab it with an ice pick repeatedly until he/she died, decomposed, and faded out of existence. The very moment anime was thought of, I never stopped cursing. I will continue to curse until every person on earth has forgotten of its existence. I will burn all paper copies of manga. Break every anime video game ever made. Burn/Melt every figure or toy that has anything to do with anime. Delete every anime image. Erase all the anime text. Kill every anime fan.
>I will not stop. Anime needs to be and will be eradicated, and once it is, then I will initiate the final step. I will kill myself so that zero people know of anime's existence. I will go to heaven and God will smile. Happiness will rain down upon the world, and earth will be thrown into an ever lasting state of peace and harmony.

>Smaller studios could make bank streaming shows they've made.
Smaller studios can't afford to make shows on their own unless they're shorts anyways. They wouldn't make any money even if the shows were streamed, the people who actually pay for them to get made would.

Anime just largely isn't profitable in and of itself, and almost no self-styled "creative" types have the funds or clout to make vanity shows just because they feel like it.

You can't make money in anime except by having the backing of a huge media conglomerate, selling toys, making all-ages stuff, getting the government to fund you because it's supposedly "artistic," or begging foreigners for money through crowdfunding.

People who lament the current state of the industry never seem to get that they can just not watch the crap they don't like, and they'll still have the same thing they always had; a tiny handful of worthwhile things to watch.

What they call "good" anime was always few and far between. The same rehashed Ghibli movie every couple years. OVAs that cost as much as two regular TV episodes do now and which got released at a rate of one episode every few months. The "Golden Age" of anime was whenever you started watching years worth of history without having to wait for something new.

Main problem is that while anime is finally getting popular in the west, the west does not support it and it's outrageous prices. The current industry is supported by paying upward of $100 for one fucking season of one show. Other shows make up for it by commercializing that's why idol shit keeps getting more popular because it's easy to market. Either something needs to be done about the pricing soon or it's going to get caught into a dead mans turn.

His not wrong. Think about the all the otakus and how 90% of them dont contribute to the society. There are NEETs that anime keeps pandering to. If there was no anime a big population of japan would have been doing something better with their lives then attending to anime-con/expos and the manga/anime artists would have been doing better stuff. Manga/anime has no positive value for the human kind. Its just scribbles and drawing that people insist on calling art to make themselfs feel less ashamed.

Humans still act humans. Anime today is so filled with okatu based love it's sickening.
>MC is a guy and sees a girl, Well she must be tsundere, and he must have the emotional understanding of a 3rd grader
>MC is a girl and see's a guy, He must be emotionally crippled, and the girl can try to console him but he must never care about her.

Western animation/shows still allow people to love, hate, care, and express conflicting emotions that normal anime just doesn't even bother to try with, because the majority of the audience they are selling to has never been in an actual relationship.

If you want to see stuff done right watch LoGH or stiens;gate

Production committee model has basically turned it into a cyclical affair of taking low risks, relying on previously established popular material and people and an inflated sense of self importance on the part of the producers who now have more say in everything than the creators and writers of shows who are now mainly there as public faces and to answer questions and deal out information while the producers slowly stroke it to themselves roughly describes how I see the core industry at this point. Also pretty much everything is now run by the interests of Bandai Namco, Aniplex, Kadokawa Shoten, and the TV networks though even then most of the popular shit is now just streamed on Bandai Satellite 11 (they own their own fucking TV channel too for Christ's sake) so the TV networks are slowly getting cut out of the equation as well or at least being vastly reduced in relevancy for non daytime stuff.
>>
Here's my take on anime:

There's always something worth watching in the current season.

And there is so much old stuff to watch that you can always have something to watch.

Problem is that the industry is dead and animators get payed like shit but whatever I predict I'd still have anime for the next 50 years so I'm good.

But yea that was my point it's always been dead and yet there's still a bunch of nice stuff to watch. So I'm not worried about it ending in my lifetime. Maybe I'll have kids some day and they'll like anime. Then it'll be their problem if anime actually ends.

Please idiot. Western art has been dead since Proust and that's being soft. If you need to relate to art, you are doing it wrong. Art is supposed to be sublime. Nothing in the West(anime doesn't either) gives that. Enjoy your mass culture.
