I think one of the biggest issues I have with it is how cool the battles could be and would be if they put in a bit more effort.
Also if they spent less time with stupid harem hijinks and focused more on developing characters who have had a few minutes of screentime at most, just relatively small things could make the show a lot better than it currently is.

Fuck, I miss early Try. It was actually good still back when it introduced Gyanko and Shimon. It went downhill after Nielsen Labs, or ever since they introduced the Gunpla Academy/other new characters. Teams like G-Masters were good, yet they completely forgot about them and Gyanko and Shimon are just cheerleaders now who STILL are better than the dull main three. At least Fumina got better last episode.

Amusingly, her build style is closer to Minato's and the Shingyo School of building. With Minato, and not Yuuma, also amusingly being the one to inspire Fumina to build the Winning SD.

The design and the success of her building can pretty much be traced back to Minato and Lady.
With Yuuma playing little to no part in it.

Honestly. Yuuma, while certainly a good builder. Appears to be far too straight faced and "by the book".

Yuuma is a by the book builder. It's boring but his base performance is extremely high. In that sense he's closer to the Meijin's style than Sei's. So while his builds are less imaginative, his basic techniques and building abilities are vastly superior to Fumina's.

Less about having neat tricks/abilities and more about amping up a machine's quality to its highest possible point and then some.

Fumina's focus shifted over time. She went from no teammates to suddenly being the worst fighter on her team so she went support to play up their strengths. What would be the point in trying to upstage them? But Winning was poorly executed as a stand alone machine so it was rebuilt to utilize the power it has while still being flexible to fill in the gaps between her teammates. Now that she's fighting and they don't really need support she can try and be a leader.

Yuuma has moved up from his old sniping position and just this episode discarded his backpack to get the win. Remember that he had the piloting skill, the problem was himself and he's overcome that. I like the fact that he's relying on Sekai as well because of the previous fights that were mostly solo and Yuuma only interacting with Fumina to mention the promise.

There's a lot they could have rearranged or done differently to make it better, but people seem to be expecting every episode to fix it all.

Yuuma's style has become a lot more aggressive and he's taking more risks where it was pointed out before he was too cautious and afraid of getting damaged, which is where his sniping style probably started. He's also switched from sniping to high speed while keeping the accuracy to reflect this.
