Ironically, considering the type of show space dandy was. I just didn't really find anything great. It's not a good sign when I'm yawning in a flashy comedy like SD.

It's not really a series, so much as a giant art project like the AnimationExpo thing.

It's enjoyable when viewed that way.

That episode was so off the rails

It was a rollercoaster of mediocre to great since it's one of those shows that uses different directors for each episode. I seriously doubt anyone could say they liked the whole thing.

Soundtrack was fucking great. I'm STILL listening to the OSTs ever since they came out.

TMS outsourcing is the only redeeming thing about it.

I understand why TMS did Dandy for Bones as TMS was worrying about losing their manlyhood because of Aikatsu (it was almost the only thing they were doing at the time with Ghibli's The Wind Rises & Lupin Vs Conan being the only other 2 projects TMS was doing at the time), Dandy helped them out in when they needed it.

But in the end, at least we got retakes for Wakko's Wish for it's DVD release.

That's an oddity, I usually meet people who've watched the anime but never played the games.

The anime has 1-2 serious episodes per season and they usually end up being the best.

That episode had nothing to do with Grease, it was a shot at Aikatsu as that episode was 1 of 2 TMS lead episodes (both were lead by Hiroyuki Aoyama; Episode 2 was even timed by the same woman who did Fujiko Mine).

If Cowboy Bebop is just a pastiche of western movies in space, Dandy is a pastiche of anime shit, dandy shit and space shit in space

It's about as good as Samurai Champloo with a diverse array of episodes of which only a few are real misses, a laid-back style that allows for strictly action/exploration based episodes yet also ones full of character, and an amazing OST full of varieties of music you wouldn't normally hear in anime

Only real problem is the first episode sets up a plot device that isn't reflected outside the 4th wall, by episode breaks until one of the late episodes of S2
