What dose /a/ think of Gainax's first attempt at a tv series? Is it a good show despite how it drags it's ass toward the middle there?
>>
>Lisa the vegetarian: The anime series

I say yes even if it did put me to sleep once.
>>
>>121291331
Remember thinking over the years how cute Nadia was. Then i actually watch the show and she is a vapid, self righteous, unlikable bitch. Grandis was hot though.

This
I'm usually the last person to get my hate on for a character but fuck Naida. Jean being such nice guy just made her look that much worse by contrast.
>>
OP's picture is beautiful.

Some anon made a thread about it a week or so ago, and I picked it up.

I bit off more than I could chew.

>Some anon made a thread about it a week or so ago
Damn, I've never seen a thread about it here. I was hoping to generate some real discussion but I guess I'm to late.
>>
Whats up with the girls in this show fucking or trying to fuck their surrogate farther figures?
>>
>>121291922
Well, it was more or less just about whether he should pick it up or not rather than actual discussion. Its probably safe to assume that a large majority of /a/ hasn't seen it.

>>121291560
>>121291488
>Nadia
What really killed her for me was that Africa arc right before the end. She spends 30+ episodes in love with Jean, then just forgets about him and goes for the new guy on the block.
>>
>>121292101
>Its probably safe to assume that a large majority of /a/ hasn't seen it.
Really? I thought Gainax stuff as a whole was entry level.
>>
>>121292101
Island and Africa arc were noncanon and added to extend the anime
>>
>>121291331
If you can overlook the dreadful "Island episodes", Nadia is one of the few masterpiece TV anime series.

I'd say it was Anno's greatest "series" work.
As for his greatest work period, my vote goes to Aim for the Top! Gunbuster.

>As for his greatest work period, my vote goes to Aim for the Top! Gunbuster.
It's bizarre how much you people seem to like that.
>>

>As for his greatest work period, my vote goes to Aim for the Top! Gunbuster.
I can never take people seriously when they say this. Gunbuster just is not that good.
>>
>>121292279
>>121292354
Why?
>>
>>121292192
>Island and Africa arc were noncanon
They were the 2 most boring arcs in my opinion. Africa was by far the worst.

>>121292178
>Gainax is entry level
Not sure, but I see a lot of people who only watch things post 2005. They can't stand the "shit" quality unless its highly praised/discussed like Eva.
>>
>>121291331
Gainax is doing TV series now?
>>
>>121292279
>>121292354

Let me guess. Evafags.
You'll at least get some respect from me if you say Royal Space Force instead.
>>
>>121292437
Nadia really kept jumping between looking pretty great and fucking awful. Those scenes where Sanson is talking and his mouth isn't even opening.
>>
>>121292101

I was warned about the island arc and skipped it on my first watch thru. Went back and watched some of it because curiosity and felt vindicated in my decision.
>>
>>121292421
I've gone into it very in-depth in other threads and don't feel like talking about it again. I thought Diebuster was a lot better, is the bottom line.

>>121292477
I think Eva is Anno's best work, yes. I also don't particularly love anything he's done.

>Honneamise

I'm conflicted about it. I don't know if I'd say I liked it better than Gunbuster or not; it has a lot of aspects I don't like about it. But from a critical standpoint, yes, I think Honneamise is the better work.
>>
I'm currently watching it and I like it a lot.
The direction is top notch and the character interactions are well executed, as expected of the master.
I think I just got to the infamous island arc, though, so we'll see how it goes from here.
>>
Real question here: Is the movie worth watching? I tried but...
>Looks like dog shit
>Not directed by Anno
>30 fucking minute recap of what happened in the series.
>>
>>121292658
>liking Eva and disliking Gunbuster

That's the pure definition of shit taste.
>>
>>121292279
>>121292354
I hope it's the same idiot.
>>
>>121292597
I too picked out quite a lot scenes where mouths would move and they weren't talking or they were talking and their mouth wasn't moving. I just got used to it after a while.

The first 10 or 15 episodes where they just explored the world were my favorites.

>>121292603
Yea, it was pretty dry. I was wondering why it seemed that Nadia didn't fit her character almost that whole arc, but now I know why.
>>
>>121292682
>I think I just got to the infamous island arc, though, so we'll see how it goes from here.
Just watch it like i did. It's worth sitting through to see that bit where Jean thinks he struck oil.
>>
>>121292917
I was already impressed that Anno was pushing his expansion fetish even before Magma Diver.
>>
>>121291488
Gainax requires at least one arch bitch per show. It's like some kind of rule.
>>
>>121292658
>I've gone into it very in-depth in other threads and don't feel like talking about it again. I thought Diebuster was a lot better, is the bottom line.
Why should anyone bother to listen to your opinion now if you're not going to elaborate on it?

I wasn't asking you to listen to it. I made a statement that I did not think Gunbuster was very good. It doesn't really require explaining.

>>121291331
4 episodes in watching it for the first time, I like it so far.
