>North American anime distributor Media Blasters is soliciting the Yosuga no Sora: In Solitude Where We Are Least Alone television anime
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-02-06/media-blasters-lists-yosuga-no-sora-anime-on-n-american-dvd/.84026

I spat my drink out when I saw this. What the fuck are they thinking?
>>
>What the fuck are they thinking?
We want the OreImo audience.
>>
>>120935130
What's the issue?
>>
>>120935235
Imagine this news title
"Cartoon featuring incestuous sex between under-aged children"
or
"Borderline pornographic depiction of under age incest"

It's not going to end well.
>>
>>120935186
There's an Oreimo audience here?
Anyway, I'm not even sure they'll be able to get that audience for this show here in the States.
I love Yosuga, but the moralfags will pan it much harder than Oreimo. Even MAL (consisting largely of losers that pay for anime) have Yosuga at a 6 or something.
>>
>>120935337

So? Anime is produced in Japan. They can't do shit.
>>
>>120935130
I didn't even know Media Blasters were still around anymore.
>>
>>120935337
When was the last time anime hit any real news source in north america? And don't say shitty hollywood film castings.
>>
>>120935388
But there can be a shitstorm in NA and blocks publishers and translators working on said anime.

Are you high, or just retarded?
>>
>>120935390
The only notable thing they have licensed this decade is Ika Musume.
>>
>>120935337
I for one am glad they want to bring it over.

It would test the boundaries of free speech that are in sore need of testing.

If this shit airs and gets successfully defended, then there is still hope yet. If it gets banned, you might wanna think about moving to some other country.

Nothing. Media Blasters has been in the hentai business for ages now so this is par for the course. YnS is hentai that pretends to be deep so this is right up their alley.
>>
>>120935529
>airs
Obviously I mean "gets published"
>>
>>120935337
>English news
>>
>>120935600
How does YnS pretend to be deep?
>>
>>120935130
I wonder if they actually watched the entire show before deciding to license it.
>>
>>120935729
More like a deep pretend to be hentai
>>
>>120935729
Muh lake, muh teddy bear, muh train.
>>
>>120935729
Oh it was "deep" alright.
>>
>>120935600
It's not hentai because it aired on broadcast TV and because there are no depicted genitals. It's roughly as pornographic as something like Dexter.
>>
>>120935818
>>
>>120935838
But people call Game of Thrones : dragons + sex
>>
>>120935838
Genitals =/= Porn. If anything this is soft core hentai but hentai nonetheless.
>>
>>120935838
>It's roughly as pornographic as something like Dexter.
More like a Skinemax movie.
>>
>>120935894
The presence of visible genitals during sex is one of the tests for vulgarity that separates art from porn when it comes to freedom of speech protections.
>>
>>120935955
Then soft core porn wouldn't exist, but it does. We aren't the FCC, this is porn as far anyone is concerned.
>>
>>120935791
Great argument.
Just because something has underlying themes or symbolism doesn't mean it's trying to be deep.
>>
>>120935130
The best aspect of YnS is how understated most of it was.

The vast majority of anime produced today feel the need to hit you over the head with every joke and plot development.

In YnS, things just happen and the characters don't overreact as if the audience is too stupid to understand what's going on.

I really appreciated it upon my second viewing.
>>
>>120936026
>Just because something has underlying themes or symbolism doesn't mean it's trying to be deep.
Actually that's exactly what it means.
>>
>>120935337
Only the british report like that. Real news sources in the US do not. They let their blogs do it, but the actual news still gives lip service to balance. Fuck the brits.
>>
>>120936090
I suppose there's no arguing with definitions, but that still doesn't make it bad. If everything was up front and stated all the time a lot of media would be a lot less interesting.
>>
>straight to DVD release
>attracting attention

How stupid can you be? As long as it's not shown on networks, they don't care at all.
>>
You'd be surprised some of the shit you can buy on DVD in the states. You can buy straight loli if you know the right series. It's just not obvious and plastered on the cover.
>>
>>120936297
If only they didn't take down their sales of Sailor Moon and the 7 Ballz.
>>
>>120935130
>Yosuga no Sora in the US
Are you implying it won't be 10 episodes long

>>

>>
>>120936421
Never forget.

http://a.pomf.se/ksuowb.webm
>>
>>120936706
I hope so, if only so we could see how awful it could be.
>>120936718
People have this retarded attachment to their 15 year old DVD players and are apparently too poor for a 10 year old blu-ray player.
And for some reason BDs are still more expensive than DVDs even though they've been around since the early 2000s.
Not to mention that the majority of consumers see "no difference" between DVD and BD.
>>
>>120936718

2015.

Releasing a DVD now would be the equivalent of releasing a betamax in 1995.

> North American anime distributor Media Blasters is soliciting the Yosuga no Sora: In Solitude Where We Are Least Alone television anime, and plans to release the complete series on DVD on May 26 for the suggested retail price of $29.98.

$ 30 for this thing!!!!
>>
>>120935359
There is. Or rather, there was? Oreimo had a huge following but most of the fanbase ended up being butthurt cause the cat lost.

I honestly think YnS will be fine.People going into it will mostly be aware of what they're gonna watch.
>>
>>120937144
Yes, anon, that is one of the reasons that we don't buy anime.
$30 for a five hour long TV show on DVD that's almost 5 years old already.
>>
>>120937144

$30 is pretty cheap for a complete series from what I remember, but since it's DVD and not BD it's useless because everyone interested in the series has already downloaded the BDs.
>>
>>120937144
Stop being poor. I've paid hundreds for other series.
>>
>>120937144
It's better than a $400 BD with just half the series
>>
>>120937144

> Selling it for $ 30
> Not new and about incest
> Someone thought this would fly in the US, land of the new and land of the go-to-prison-for-taking-pics-of-your-relatives

These aren't BDs they are DVDs.
>>
>>120936041
I completely agree with you. One of my favorite things about YnS was how natural a lot of it felt. Most of things that happened never felt too forced.
>>
>>120935337
Considering the actual porn Media Blasters survived on for years, I doubt it'll be an issue. In fact, that's the audience they are going for, people who are both horny and don't know that the Internet exists.

>>120935390
They are the US anime distro equivalent of Lazarus. Them still licensing things should not be a surprise.
>>
>>120935186
I'm still surprised about Oreimo never getting a dub release, considering how popular it was.
>>
>>120935130
