Void's backstory is simple.

He was the wiseman mentioned by Mozgus.
Void was likely some sort of leader of a cult that pissed off Gaiseric.

Someone postulated that Void seems to be disfigured similar to how Griffith wears the helmet he was tortured with.
It's easy to speculate that the mouth disfiguration was caused by torture which is an interesting point.

After Void became a God Hand, he came back to earth similar to how Griffith came back. Skull Knight even mentioned how ''this is exactly like before''.

And after coming back to Earth, Void used his godlike influence (similar to how Griffith affects people around him) to gain a mass following.
Then he sacrificed everyone to open a portal for the God Hand to come down on Earth.
This can be seen in the ruins of the tower of conviction where all the skull have the mark on their forehead. Marks are done at random (Guts getting it on the neck, Casca on the breast, etc) but all of those skeletons show the same location. This suggest to me that they carved the mark themselves with a knife.

And by this, Void was able to bring the 4 other God Hands on Earth.
Gaiseric somehow defeated all of them and Void was sent back to the Astral to become the first God Hand.

They want to cause the Apocalypse, which they already did.

The Apocalypse started the moment Skull Knight cut and opened the Astral world.
This is a very subtle reference by Miura which is brilliant in a way.

When the Astral is open, you see all of the God Hand and their main negative collective emotion as they come our the Physical world.

You see Slan with bodies in a corridor which resemble a vagina.
You see Conrad coming out of rats and skulls.
You see Ubik and mass insanity of weird characters.
And you see the brain of Void.

What is interesting to note is the picture from Ubik.
It's actually a reference to a famous pictured called the Garden of Delight.

On the left on this image, you can see paradise.
In the middle, you can see the world, all its weirdness and whatnot.
But on the right, it's hell and the apocalypse.
Basically, Griffith has now brought about the Apocalypse is what Miura suggests.

Which makes sense, the entire world will be fucked over by fantasy monsters with a single safe heaven IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD.

The God Hand have effectively trapped the entire human race by making the world toxic and grouping humans into a single spot for harvest.
My theory is that each of the God Hand are fueled by negative collective emotions.

Void is indoctrination from religion.
Slan is collective sex and taboo.
Conrad is the collective fear people have during disease area and time of plague
Ubik is mass insanity.
Femto is mass sacrifice.

And IoE is the strongest of all; our need to have a purpose for human suffering.

The God Hand are going to use Griffith's kingdom as grounds to fuck with the population, sacrifice them and fuel them.
Sections of Falconia would be given to different God Hand members to do whatever they want. Like Slan getting thousands for mass orgies, Ubik getting thousands to become insane, etc.

I still think that once Griffith becomes king and Guts gets Casca back, something will force both sides to clash. I still think that Guts will stop his revenge altogether once he gets Casca back.

But what's interesting is that both sides are furthest apart and at opposite ends.

Contrast is a big theme in Berserk (Good versus evil, human vs inhumane, Guts being tall and strong versus Griffith who is smart and slender, etc)

Guts will have his own safe heaven in Elfenheim while Griffith will have his kingdom.
What's interesting to note is the contrast.

Griffith needs to be crowned king by the pope for it to be actually official and for him to sit on his throne. This has been referenced again in the last chapter which I doubt was a coincidence.
Guts will achieve a minor goal (fixing Casca's mind) and Griffith will accomplish his lifelong dream of having a kingdom once he gets crowned king. Notice the contrast?

Once Griffith fully becomes king, we'll get to see Guts again.

And what I think will happen is that both of those men will fuck their loved one.

Guts will have passionate love with Casca again.
And Griffith will be forced to consummate the marriage with Charlote.

What I hope will happen is the same thing Griffith did to Casca. Basically fuck her brains out. It would be hilarious is simply having sex with Femto just fucks you because of how bad it is.

The way I imagined it is that Rickert, although mad at Griffith, will stay in Falconia because there's nowhere else to go. And Falconia does seem like a good place to live.

Erika would vanish one day and Rickert would try and look for her. He would stumble somewhere he isn't supposed to and find Erika's remains or something indicating she's been killed. That would be enough insentive for Rickert to understand what Guts felt in the Eclipse and for him to leave.

I would love for Rickert to just start going apeshit, trying to tell everyone that they're all going to be slaughtered and that it's a trap, without anyone giving a fuck and ignoring him. That would be funny.

I don't think Rickert seeing the demon area really scared him enough for him to leave. Everyone knows about the Demon army. It just seems to me like a home for the Apostles but it might also be where the God Hand send the population to be sacrificed and whatnot. I dunno.

It would be interesting, since they now showed the Demon area, that it's where Erika's remains are found since Rickert was given a tour of the place. So he would have a reason to check the place out rather than a secret door saying DO NOT OPEN.

I honestly think, because it's ironic, that the Behelit Guts is holding will be used by Griffith in the end. It might not happen but it would be hilarious if it did. That the thing Guts held the entire time is what saves Griffith in the end.

Much like Void became the first God hand, Griffith would also become the first God Hand.
But what I think the Behelit will be is a temptation for Guts to use it. Testing his humanity as he could have all the powers he would want literally at his fingertips.

I do agree with your disagreeing with Guts finding a safe heaven because it would slow down the plot. I just think it fits narratively with Guts simply giving up on revenge.

Since his overall goal (killing Griffith) made him ignore Casca, he promised to protect her and I think it's quite possible he might end up trying to seek out Griffith to just be happy with Casca.

But 'something' will make him return to the mainland.
I have no clue what that something is but meh. I haven't seen anyone guess what will happen once Casca returns to normal.

I know that they have to stay there for awhile because loli witch and Farnese will need wizard training.
And Ishido will likely also get some training.
So there's going to be a lot of time alone on the island. I'm expecting a lot of SoL.

This fits with the contrast we're getting with Falconia getting some exposition.
Once Falconia gets some coverage, we'll see how the Elf Island works. Seeing the two sides before both sides start to head towards the other until we reach a full on war.

Berserk has been showcasing people will skill on the human side and Rickert is one of them.
Roderick being a very good naval captain.
Farnese's father having money to be the singular person who decides wars and can finance them singlehandedly. He would be able to finance a mercenary army
That Bridge Church knight who's strong.
Silat being a master assassin.
Serpico being a master tactician.

All those people are likely going to be working together in the future.
And Rickert seems like the sort of person with 'legendary skills' similar to those people.

So, how would you make Rickert go from being comfortable in Falconia, to seeking to find Guts?
What possible reason would Rickert want to find Guts?

The most obvious answer to me is that he experienced what Guts felt and knows Falconia is deathtrap. I don't see any reason or way for Rickert to even leave Falconia without a drastic even like Erika dying.

Guts and Azan's swordplay just don't suit the nimble Isidro. When Casca gets better, despite her loss of muscle she'll still probably have her reflexes, agility and knowledge of the human body. Her style of fighting was only really to pinpoint and strike vital points of the human body in order to quickly cut down vast amounts of enemies in succession, so that would be much more suited to Isidro than what he's up to at the moment. The only real challenge there would be having Isidro accept a woman teaching him.

With Casca, whose main mystery now is what exactly she wishes for, there is a LOT of room to fail. What I think will happen is that Guts and co are going to return to the mainland and just have some JRPG dicking around until they get to the main storyline (learning about Falconia and that humanity has been trapped by the God Hand and Griffith)
Guts will have forgotten about revenge but duty will be what brings Guts to fight Griffith again.

Until that point, Guts can ignore his revenge and simply focus on trying to make his DragonSlayer live up to its name by slaying a dragon.

Another thing is that, you imply that the magic users are incapable of defending themselves. I have a theory that the wizards and witches on Elfhelm live there solely out of some agreement with Void, that they can live peacefully so long as they don't meddle with human affairs. Flora disagreed with this and outcast herself as a result, but is still respected by the other mages even after her death.
This little theory is just to explain why Elfhelm doesn't bother helping humanity when even the little Schierke can do so much for others. It definitely seems like something that should be brought up.
