The method I posted here >>120517647 works for bookwalker but it's shitty because you need to manually look for the files, rename them and put them into order. I dumped the memory of flash player process (Firefox starts two of them, dump the one that takes more memory) and was able to get the images just fine. Someone would need to write a simple script that automatically removes unnecessary files like .gif, corrupted files and duplicates to save the hassle going through all of them manually.
>>
>>120635845
Give it a shot if you'd like. I have zero faith that it works on something that is not my system.

Bookwalker <app data folder> <uuid>

Find the app data folder where there is an bwdb.sdf file. The uuid is for the series which you'll have to figure out, but unless you have better know-how you'll just have to try all of them from the contents directory.
>>
>>120636640
Also, don't forget the double quotes for the path, otherwise you'll probably get into trouble.
>>
>>120636662
It is run from bookwalker.exe in the bin folder, and point it to AppData\Roaming\BOOK☆WALKER for Windows?
>>
>>120636825
Yeah. The last thing you need is just the uuid of the series e.g. 947eb96f-a3d9-4d7d-a491-8ab8bfacec1c. The output is in the app data folder as well.

Sorry, but I'm really stumped on what to do. I got the Bookwalker app from the site, and the ripper. Now, here's my questions

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but are any groups/individuals scanlating Teekyuu? Seems weird that a relatively popular anime only appears to have volume 1 scanlated so far.

How would someone go about learning how to clean/typeset from scratch? As in, assume I can barely even into computer. Any decent tutorials on this?

Always wanted to practice translating with some manga after a couple of stalled visual novel projects that went nowhere because holy fuck that is a lot of words.

>>120635485
I am currently trying to get my hands on the Kenshin/Houshin Engi/Slam Dunk Kanzenbans. As well as the Yu Yu Hakusho Kanzenbans.

So far I got lucky with Kenshin and Houshing Engi but The Yu Yu Kanzenbans are nowhere to be seen, I found a site that has them but it seems that all the links got shut down because of copyrights. Also The Slam Dunk Kenzenban raws are nowhere either but I could get my hands on Chinese scans. Does anyone know a site that host Chinese scanlations? Perhaps I could find other series there as well.

As far as scanlating goes I am currently working on cleaning the raws of Sanctuary, the political thriller made by Buronson and Ikegami, the current scans are garbage take out of the comic release in America like 20 years ago.
>>
>>120637354
It depends on the series. If you are looking for tank scans there are several sites that have shit ton of series, both current and old. If you are looking for MQ/HQ weekly Magazine scans I think the only place are Jap P2P.
>>

I've been searching the Yu-Gi-Oh and Nougami Neuro kanzenban raws for a long time now. Do you know where to find them?
>>
>>120642802
There are shit ton of beginners tutorials, though most are for shit old Photoshop versions they are still kinda good and they also teach you the basics on leveling and such.

Then you can learn how to clean properly or redraw, but you first need to cover your basics.
>>
>>120643545

Basically just install photoshop, download a random raw from a series you like and then load one of the pages on PS.

Then you will know what you need to look for on tutorials. Again there are shit tons and most cover the basic well enough but unless you are trying for yourself you will never get anywhere.

What's the best way to translate a Kansai accent into English when it's significant to the plot? That is to say, sometimes the character transitions from 'standard' Japanese to her Kansai accent and other characters notice.

There's also a mix of characters, some of which speak with their Kansai accent full time.

CS2 is free would that be enough? Or is it important to work with CS6?
Because I'm working with Gimp currently and I don't know how good/bad Gimp is compared to PS
>>
>>120644978
It's shit compared to CS6, just torrent it. There is a reason people use Ps for scanlating instead of adhering to muh freedom.
>>
>>120645079
>There is a reason people use Ps for scanlating

>muh Topaz
>>
>>120645193
Topaz only started being used like 4 years ago, Ps had already been used for ~10 years before it spread throughout the community.
>>
>>120645193
For weekly scans is true. But it has been the standard before Topaz went "mainstream" when weakly, cheap and available MQ raws became a norm back in 2008/2009 (I think). Before that PS was still the standard among scanlators.

>>120644978
Yeah CS2 is fine, I personally pirated CS6 but I can't see the difference with CS2, though I am sure there is for scanlation I would say that even a portable version of CS1 or one of the numered PS would be enough. Gimp is basically fine, it will help you to start but I don't know if it will help you with the most current advanced tutorials that are mostly always build around CS2.

Let's say you have two speech bubbles on the same panel. In the original Japanese they both have the same text size, but one of them is a clusterfuck.

There is no way to fit the clusterfuck one with regular sized text, so you have to make the text smaller for that one.

What do you do with the other one? Do you go for consistency and make them both the same size, or do you fit each bubble independently?

Also, what's the font on the OP?

>>120639767
It's not really that. For one OMD actually has to do the downloading. Secondly, the structure of the app is actually really odd. And in the case of EBJ, it actually has to do a bunch more processing to unscramble the images. Bookwalker just runs it through some pretty standard crypto algorithms.

Guys which translation group is the best in your opinion? Mangastream, Mangapanda, Redhawkscans, Imperial Scans, Easy going Scans or some other group? I would really like to see who does the best scanlation.

>>120665377
>World Trigger
I thought no one is scanlating that anymore.
>>
>>120682816

There's no such thing as a best scanlation group. The only ones who would disagree are the hardcore e-peen scanlation scenesters or people who get super autistic about manga, and in both cases their opinions are to be placed into the trash as soon as possible.

There's bad ones, and the rest are good enough. You're probably already not reading the bad ones, since they are bad and they will annoy you when you try reading their junk and so you will stop doing it.

Newcomer here who wants to start typesetting.

Any tips or font suggestions for those wanting to get into it?

I only have Paint, though. Here's a shitty job I did.

Try to download and install Sql Server Compact edition 4.0.
>>
>>120684667
I already did that, but I noticed that after installing the Bookwalker reader, in the app folder the only files that show up are the database and a folder named log. There's no contents folder.
>>
>>120684340
>>120684714
Have you actually had Bookwalker download everything yet? And viewed your ebooks? It looks like you're probably missing the keys and such.
>>
>>120684728
All the program does is decrypt the files, it doesn't download them for you.
>>
>>120684728
What? What do you mean with having Bookwalker downloading everything? I logged in and everything, but it hasn't downloaded anything.
>>
>>120685183
...really? There is a blue download button beside your book title after you login bookwalker windows app. And it is on english.

Currently cleaning this cover up for future generations. I've removed a bunch of the sanner imperfections but I'm hesitating over doing the redrawing too though because I've no tablet. The last cover of something I redrew so that people could fap freely to it took me 8 hours to remove the writing. Anybody who could do it in 10 / 20 minutes wanna have a go and save me a fuckton of effort?

Also taking advice for the actual cleaning part I've not done yet, I never actually learned how to clean colour pages so I was just going to do what I usually do and run it through topaz denoise / clean like I do with black & white pages but I know some people don't like that.
>>
>>120636640
Will this also decrypt any other files in the directories, for example, the html files for their ebooks?
>>
>>120686660
Yes. But those are usually unused I think.

What's the name of this one?
>>

If everything else is satisfied, you can do this

open a command window in C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\BOOK☆WALKER for Windows (where the dwdb.sdf is) and run the following command, it'll decrypt everything you have downloaded

FOR /D %G in ("*") DO "C:\path\to\decryptor\Bookwalker.exe" "C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\BOOK☆WALKER for Windows" %G

I'm kinda rusty on this, but, anyone looking for a cleaner?

I want to get in shape with my photoshop skills.

That's more the texture boost on Topaz clean, for the life of me I couldn't find a happy medium for it. Even with clean strength 1 / texture boost 0.98 it was too much. I did ask if anybody had any better ideas, I've been cleaning for 4 years but I'm 95% self taught and nobody's ever seen fit to tell me a way around that problem.
Would have responded faster but Virgin Media internet is fucking unstable.

Sorry for the late reply, I used burn/dodge. Dodge (midtones) first to light up the dark zones and then burn (midtones), if necessary, the lighter area you might have created between the dodged parts.

>>120687643

really overdenoised, i would never recommend using clean 3 on color pages tho, it destroys a lot of details, also that page is really low quality, the best you can do is a little of surface blur and vibrance/levels/curves etc. Here's an example of a good page.

Have to work with what I got man, my research only turned up one copy of it on all the sites and that was the highest resolution one. I love cleaning but the desired end result I'm trying to get is more of a vague concept rather than something I can measure which is the opposite of what I'm good with, I struggle hard enough just trying to understand the lingo really. I've no idea what you mean by vibrance or curves, a small idea of surface blur and think I know what you mean by levels.

Is there any standard format for TL scripts, thinking of possibly doing some at some point soon, but I've no experience photo editing and such so I was just going to post scripts, but don't want them to be horrible to work from if anyone decides to ever use them

So typesetter knows in which bubble to put text without doubt.

I really don't understand embedded profiles. I keep it, any change I do to the levels makes the blacks look like petroleum, if I scrap it and use defaults it works fine but the colors are different.
>>
>>120700786
It should only be done in cases where there could be any doubt because of no speech bubbles or something like that, but if it's a regular panel then transcribing it to Kanji seems like a waste of time.

However, I guess if there's going to be someone doing translation checks then in that case it would be handy.
>>
>>120700290
>>120700596
None of the translators I know do that. That seems like a huge waste of time.

We just write the translation in the order it will be read. Sometimes the translator notes who the speaker is.

>>
>>120701126>>120700846
Switch off color management, and if you use saving for web, be sure to remove "convert to sRGB".
>>
>>120701089
Translator(s) from /ak/ do that. If anything, that forces to waste time removing japanese text to check spelling and not clog text visually. If there's potentially can be confusion in panel to where put what text, then there's translator notes. Though I have yet to encounter such manga where it would be necessary. Probably some shoujo/josei/hentai.
Also it can be useful to separate panels, and set + before side/background chatter text and sounds.
>>
>>120700846
yo, can you share your psd?
>>
>>120702472
Momo's scripts usually are in the panel and balloon order.
