Really, it's the terrible school raid trip arc that sent the plot to shit.

Maybe it really would have been better if they killed off Aikuro and went with the earlier plan for a prison arc instead... Maybe. Ryuko in prison would have been pretty badass after all.

It kept me entertained so I wouldn't hate it. I'd think of it as a hidden gem if it wasn't popular.

It would be praised as much as Panty and Stocking on here.

The voice acting was good, the animation was too inconsistent (horrible and good), the action was good, the story wasn't really that great and the pacing kind of sucked at times.

And the biggest gripe i had was the fact that they wasted a lot of its initial potential, the first episode really set a high standard which they couldn't follow

I think it's safe to say that it's hateworthy because of just how much the plot was shat on. The writing was just abominable, inexcusably bad, and it turned into generic shonen power level garbage. They relied on the same retarded plot device (RYUKO IS UNRELIABLE) 4 times in the latter half of the show, plot threads were completely abandoned, and the final showdown was predictable and atrocious. The funny part is that even episodes that weren't filler didn't move the fucking story along. The entire battle with the 4 devas thing (which, by the way, they TOTALLY blew their wad on, in an instant), didn't really do anything for the story. Ryuko went berserk, okay, and then what? She got the pieces of senketsu and fought in osaka. The whole deva fight and her subsequent defeat did NOTHING to move the plot forward because she might as well have just gotten to osaka.

Animation wise I think its very unique and fun to watch. Haven't seen anything like it. Storywise, the ending tied the story back to the beginning with a few twist. Made everything personal and made sense. Most animes I see now don't even do that, they create a problem that was only became an issue a few eps before the finale.

I don't hate Kill La Kill because it's popular, but I HATE that is popular. The masses don't deserve it. /a/ doesn't deserve it. It was good enough. I just hated how clear it was they were making the episode on the go and after the first half, many great things ends prematurely to catch up with the plot, plot that itself isn't that great in the end. wished Riuko's break lasted longer, wished Nui was more than a plot device that disapear in the end when not necessary. Wished Satsuki didn't make her 180 off screen when Ryuko was busy being a space pokemon. Lack of balance was definitely a thing.

Why are Kill la Kill threads always so shitty? I like the show, but discussing it on /a/ is impossible because of the retarded fanbase.

With that being said, this had a decent start simply because it had a different approach but it got repetitive quite fast with the early student fights and lost that small charm. Then the plot progressed and I couldn't care less about the story or characters. And the obvious twist occurred and buried any hope left I had for this, just another good vs bad battle bullshit with the lame gray characterization of your cast.
Another style over substance forgettable nonsense that was clearly over hyped since the very beginning and that entry level people regard it way higher than what it truly is.

But what truly makes me butthurt is that Koshimizu Ami,even if she did a good job, is now forever part of this thrash. It'[s just awful hearing her and getting flashbacks of this shit. Godawful.
