Hey /a/, do you still enjoy romance in anime as you grow older?
I'm 23, soon 24 and I thought my tastes would change over time but I still enjoy watching romance shows even when all protagonists are younger than me, most of the time 16-18 old.
Also romance thread?

Of course, and certainly ever will, as it will be the only romance that I will have.
I probably would like romance like Shigatsu in my teens but I can't help but cringe watching it now. I still like Toradora or True Tears or Clannad though so I think the romance genre just got shittier.

I know what you mean.
Sometimes I feel like shit when I watch some romance because it reminds of all I missed in my shool days.

I'm 24 and I identify as a middle school magical girl so it pretty much works for me
Why are you still haven't read the best romance LN?
Of course.
Romance is the best.
Clannand is shity

"Hits home", or something like that, right? At least we are not alone, I mean, in a way every story is utopian for the author, that's escapism isn't it, something that is good because you can't have normally.
What's the best way to do Karekano? Should I do
-anime only
-anime then manga
-manga only
-anime until episode X then manga
?

>anime then manga
Because it's the correct thing for everything.

if manga is available read the manga first? then watch the anime
I'm pretty tired of high school romances, but boy did I feel a little embarrassed for myself as I was reading Spice and Wolf. Loved it to death.

Because the premise sounds like a bad hentai plot.
As I got older I started reading more manga, but overall my tastes in anime have diversified a little. When I was 16-18 I wouldn't have watched any SoL or romance anime, now I watch them by the bucketload.

I only enjoy slice of life if there's romance. It hits the uncanny valley for me if the characters are uninterested in love.

but shigatsu sucks anon, the only good thing is the music

I just started watching this. What am I expecting?

Middle Age economics and banter. Delightful, never-ending banter. It'll make you switch over to the novels once you're done, but then you'll realize the anime's only an okay adaptation. I still recommend the anime first because it's fantastic in its own right.

Boring economics.
comfy atmosfere, god-tier OST, and, at the very end, the need of seeing more

I hate high school romances that are propelled by misunderstandings and tsundere nonsense, but I love them when they're just simple and fun. I'm a sucker for melodrama when it comes to "adult" romances though.
I generally enjoy romance in fiction, and for some reason my tolerance for mediocre or cliched romance seems to be higher for anime than for literature. I can still enjoy high school romance stories, though anime and manga with older main cast appeal to me more these days. Stuff like Bonnouji is what I'd like to see more of in romantic manga and anime.
