There are 49 total.

There are 47 prefectures, the Try Fighters were in the Western Tokyo Block so there's probably an Eastern Tokyo Block, which adds up to 48, and then there's the Gunpla Academy.

Though, to be honest, there were 6 rounds in the West Tokyo block, which meant that there were even more teams for the that specific qualifier alone. It probably isn't that way for every prefecture, however.

Junya is basically Shimon of cour 2, except he probably has even less potential. I doubt anyone's ever gonna be as impressive as a scrub nearly destroying a world-class gunpla with a snap fit just because he learned to punch harder and use the oxygen in his mus-err I mean particles in his plastic.
