Very heavy action wise, the novel has long, battles explained in details which are a really good read. The lore is very deep and based on clear rules in the world (as is magic).

So yes, there's a lot of action, lot's of flashy combat with no bullshit in, either swords, guns or magic. Characters don't pull out stuff from their ass or resort to "nakama power". Everything has a good reason and the characters don't "power-up" out of nowhere.

If you want to know more, I recommend reading through at least full 5 volumes of the novel (heck, it takes 5 volumes to reach its full potential, although it's fairly good from the beginning).
