THEY SAID IT WASNT GOING TO END SOON
YET WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS
I DONT WANT IT TO END
IVE BARELY BEEN CAUGHT UP FOR A YEAR
GINTAMA THREAD HOLY FUCK
I thought he was going to change history!
Kondo dies in history, but he doesn't have to die here! He doesn't have to die here, he doesn't have to die here, nononononononono
Dear lord, if he dies, I have no idea what I'll do with myself. No idea. Oh Jesus, I'm already losing my mind over this.
i think this series as a comedy is dead now
there just cant be a lighthearted atmosphere anymore without it being forced
this fucking sucks i just want to laugh every week, not be clinically fucking depressed
Shogun is dead...Kondou will die...
Gorillia you can stop anytime now....
Fuck, so Sho-chan really is dead.
This song will never be the same again.
You know, there's no real reason that Gintama should end when the actual plot ends. It could literally go on for years after the final arc with just comedy stuff without skipping a beat.
No, but it seems like someone's gonna die here, and Matsu's more likely. Like they try to save both, but they fuck up and Matsu sacrifices himself to save Kondou or something.
I don't want to see it go either but I'm pretty curious as to what Sorachi would do next. Besides this he's only ever done some one shots, and most of them seem like they'd make interesting series.
Well, we don't exactly know what's his real motivation yet.
The real question here is "Who is gonna be the new Shogun after the kill that fucking mummy?"
>yfw Madao is gonna be redeemed with the shogun title
so question for the historyfags, does just kondou die here or does matsudaira bite the dust as well?
this is relevant for whether or not these 2 will actually escape getting offed by the shogun or not.
no because Gins teacher actually teaches the person who becomes the first prime minister after mummyman bites the dust according to history, and for Madao to take that role, hes gotta have that condition since even with all the fuckery to gintama, Gorilla has stayed comparatively fairly consistent with history.
a quick search on google says that matsudaira dies later on by pneumonia but Kondo dies here. Instead of getting blamed for the death of the shogun he actually got blamed for the death of Sakamoto
What is this. I refuse to believe this is even the same series... I mean that this time. What the fuck man.
fuck, gintoki looks like he's done with everything
After all that I think most people would just be fucking done. And it's not even over yet shit's still getting bad.
yeah that sucks hard, personally i feel bad for hijikata and co, since they failed their job to protect the shogun, Their boss and friend is gonna get killed because of an asshole usurper, and all of them are now out of a job.
>this arc gets carried out
>it's incredibly depressing
>Gintoki dies saving everyone
>Long ago, this nation was known as the land of the samurai...
>it just picks up from where we were pre-Assassination Arc
Holy shit, just caught up with the manga today after a few weeks of driving through the anime/movies.
>finish with Shigeshige ch.524
>check and see if there's a new chapter out
>0 days ago
Best timing ever.
Also, who the fuck is this beard guy?
speaking of such, what happened to the sensungumi after they were disbanded in history? I get the feeling a bunch of them ended up dying to people who wanted revenge on them now that the government doesn't have their backs anymore.
This fella is wearing more ninja-like clothing, though. Pictures of this nigga everywhere.
>mfw Katsura's crew comes to help defeat the Mimiwarigumi
That's the joke.
So will she be the one to decapitate them?
She can save them, right?
Me too anon
Gotta say, Gintama has always been Kenshin-esque but Gorilla did better on setting the background of and portraying Gintoki's current major depression than Watsuki did with Kenshin.
Because the gorilla spends time to soften you with comedy first. Takes the time with the comedy to lighten you up, get to know the characters, use the comedy to get you to like them and enjoy them first. That way it hurts more when it hits.
Well, that's the theory, at least.
Please God let it be like this. Let Sorachi bring back the parodies and just do this. Even as I post this, I know it probably won't happen and I just want to cry.
Its about time. ZURA JA NE! CAPTAIN KATSURA DA!
Hey /a/nons, I finally decided to stop being a lazy fuck and pick this up.
So, should I watch the anime + movie or just stick with the manga?
Please don't say both, I don't have a lot of free time anymore.
Watch the anime. This is one of the rare adaptations where the anime is better than the manga. The voice cast is amazing.
Skip the very first episode and be aware that the first season is the slowest, so don't give it 3 episodes and then drop it. It takes a while to get into the swing of things.
Watch all of the anime and then the movie. Then continue reading the manga. Though new anime adapting rest of the manga is coming in April so you'll probably be ready by then. The anime is legendary.
Thanks. I'll start with the anime then.
It actually started more serious than people remember. It was still comedic, but also a lot more plot heavy. It didn't evolve this massive disparity between comedy and serious plot until around Benizakura.
Probably. A lot of his personality seems to come from his dad just not being there, he lacked proper guidance so he just embraced his animal instincts and the insane outdated traditions of his clan.
Not really, there needs to something like saying that the secret to Gintoki's strength is dringling lots of tasty Strawberry Milks and Parfaits that are compatible with his Gourmet cells. Shinpachi then does tsukomi
>Shogun is dead
But those were the funniest episodes.
Has the Gorilla ever insulted other mangakas directly? Other than saying stuff like "they're lazy" or "they suck".
Gintama made jokes about Hunter x Hunter being on hiatus, did they ever joke that that must mean a new dragon Quest is out?
>all these faggots taking Gintama serious
Is this your first serious Gintama arc or what? Everything will be fine in the end.
>final gag will be Katsura on standby
Underrated post. My sides are in fucking orbit.
Not a real parody, but in a chapter where Tsukuyo was trying to make a bento for that child of Yoshiwara once she gave him that crocodile of the first chapter of Toriko to kill and eat
People died before only to come back. Sho-chan will come back too.
So I haven't kept up with Gintama in years because I kind of tired of the scat comedy, and people cutting concrete by swinging a sword near it in the first Mimawarigumi arc was dumb as hell.
What the hell is going on? Shogun is dead? Kondo getting beheaded? Should I catch up?
People have died before only to never come back too.
>mfw it keeps happening
I WANT OFF THE RIDE ALREADY YOU GODDAMN GORILLA
Harada Unosuke is an elite extra. He's usually right behind Hijikata.
> Finally rare thread of Gintama
> depression thread
>Sometimes people die when they are killed.
Thanks, Shirou. Nice to see you keeping on top of things as usual.
>Or the shipperfag arcs
That arc manage to generate even more threads than the Shogun Assassination arc. I don't know whether I should be glad that many people were talking about Gintama or disappointed that people only care about shipping
even though I like Tsukuyo myself.
Shipperfags, waifufags. Same shit, just endless bickering and shit flinging about best girl etc.
Pretty much. Those threads are the worst. I'd much prefer a slower thread like this one where there's actual discussion about the manga.
>All these people who think recurring characters in Gintama are going to die for good
Because the chapter hammers home Gin's character. The reason he's so goddamn apathetic is that he lost a war. Winners get to console themselves that the price they paid was worth it, but all a loser can do is count the things they lost.
Every time you see how dead Gin's eyes are, every time you see him do something stupid to push people away so he doesn't get hurt again, every time you see him try and protect those around him for the same reason, it's clear that it all stems from that.
His drinking problem. His gambling problem. His lack of worth ethic and his downright depression even when he's surrounded by so many friends and a downright new family. All of that came from a war ten years ago, and now a second one is just starting.
>His drinking problem. His gambling problem. His lack of worth ethic
Those seem more like shit he's always had. While the war plays a large part in who he is I wouldn't attribute all of his flaws to it.
>Kondō and his wife, Otsune, were married in 1860...A year later, his daughter Tamako (1862–1886) was born.
Kondo and Otae has always been endgame. Their daughter is named fucking Tamako for crying out loud.
There's a couple of Hasegawa x Gin doujin.
I'm still disappointed that there's no
Kondo x Katsura.
So can someone explain what happened in 524?
Someone tried to assassinate sho-chan. It seemed to be successful, sho-chan died next to his sister, not as a shogun but as a brother.
But why is Soyo's letter to Kagura so optimistic? Did the body double fooled her? What's up with the cup changing colors? (read this from yorozuyasoul forum). It's still very unclear
T-there will be time machine arc next time around right guys?
Gengai gonna make a time machine and Gin will save everyone
Come on, it's obviously PTSD. Look up real life cases of how people deal with PTSDs.
The lack of work ethic and general sloth though, might indeed be what he's really like based on childhood flashbacks.
>it's obviously PTSD
I'm pretty sure he had a drinking problem before the war, and his gambling problem seems to stem more from his poor work ethic. I mean they're pretty common vices for anyone, it's an exxaggeration to say it's obviously PTSD.
If gorilla-sensei decided to kill Kondo in this arc, then all the dominoes will fall and Hijikata is good as kill
>After Kondo surrendered to the Imperial Loyalist Army and was executed on May 17 (lunar calendar: 4th month, 25th day) 1868, Hijikata led the Shinsengumi in their final battles against the new government. After a time in Aizu, he went to Sendai, where he joined up with Enomoto Takeaki's fleet. He knew he was fighting a losing battle, and told the physician Matsumoto Ryojun: "I am not going to battle to win. With the Tokugawa government about to collapse, it would be a disgrace if no one is willing to go down with it. That is why I must go. I will fight the best battle of my life to die for the country".
That doesn't contradict with my point, you know.
>common vices for anyone
But different people are drawn to them due to different reasons. And no, it's not an exaggeration. Seriously, go read up on it.
But Kondo is a main character
>love related chapters
His pretty much present every time while shogun only appears once in a blue moon.
Toshi's waifu is dead. If his beloved friend and mentor dies too, he really has nothing to lose anymore.
And now I finally understand why he's dreaming of fighting dead people on the first OP.
They're the ones he lost in war and couldn't protect.
Speaking of Kondo, I don't get this joke.
Let's all hell break loose. Gin and co might be on the losing side of history, but at least it'll be a hell of a fight
Holy shit /a/non...
Tsukuyo is never been a legit whore. Since she was a child she was trained as a brothel security unit, not to be the prostitute.
There is a big chance that she's still a virgin
